We are currently looking to hire a Principal Scientist based in Louisville, Colorado!

In this role, you will be responsible for:

• Supporting the global expansion of Danone's Plant Based Food & Beverage business through technical leadership, product and process design support, and ingredient functionality mastery.


• Work closely with procurement, engineering, and our supplier base to identify potential innovation, renovation, and productivity opportunities


• Work closely with ingredient and equipment vendors to generate new ideas for productivity, product improvements, and new products while ensuring process capability


• Deliver nutritional breakthroughs, protectable technologies and great tasting, superior category innovations through expanded technical expertise in plant protein chemistry, protein extraction, and emulsion sciences


• Discover trends and technologies to develop the next generation of products in new and adjacent plant-based food categories


• Develop product formulas, processing procedures, product, and raw material specifications to develop superior products that support business objectives


• Independently plan and execute bench, pilot, and plant trials for new and improved products, analyze test results and effectively translate these into effective next steps that lead to project successes
  

The base compensation range for this position is $98,000-146,000 (commensurate with experience). About You:

• Master's Degree in Food Science, Plant Protein Chemistry, Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or closely related field preferred (PhD preferred) with 10+ years of experience in product development in the food industry.


• Strong technical skills on product formulation, industrial processes, ingredient functionality, and product-process interactions; preferred in-depth knowledge on dairy and non-dairy protein and functional ingredient technologies.


• Knowledgeable in natural and clean label ingredient selection, formulation, processing equipment, and operating conditions


• Extensive technical and theoretical knowledge of plant protein science and manufacturing processes


• Strong project management/organization and leadership skills


• Excellent communication skills (both written and oral) and the ability to interact with all company functions including R&D, Marketing, Purchasing and Operations


• Comfortable and passionate about creating, rapid prototyping, development, and commercialization of ideas under tight timelines.
