Job Description
WANTED: A Senior Program Protection Analyst / Systems Security Engineer to supportmajor systems acquisition, research and engineering as a subject matter expert.
As Senior Program Protection Analyst/ Systems Security Engineer you will:
Work with a team of driven, supportive and highly skilled subject matter experts to shape program engineering and acquisition strategies and plans.
Provide expertise on technology maturation and protection strategies; mission analyses; systems engineering and integration reviews; technical risk mitigation; requirements development; and inform acquisition milestones and modernization investment decisions.
Support the development and application of system security engineering, and program protection for Major Defense Acquisition Programs (MDAPs) in support of the USD(R&E).

A week in the life of Senior Program Protection Analyst/ Systems Security Engineer:
Support OSD policy, guidance and training development related to DoD systems security engineering and program protection initiatives including DoDI 5200.83, Program Protection Outline & Guidance (PP O&G) Program Protection Plans (PPP) and Technology Area Protection Plans (TAPP).
Coordinate with program offices to apply policy, tools, and expertise to facilitate their system's cyber resiliency:Efforts include mentoring programs regarding the: 1) identification and protection of Critical Program Information (CPI); 2) protection of Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and controlled unclassified information (CUI); 3) protection of mission critical functions to achieve Trusted Systems and Networks (TSN); and 4) management life cycle cybersecurity risks.
Coordinate with assigned programs to identify/implement the appropriate mix of measures to protect the program and system information, components, and technologies from the known security threats and attacks across the acquisition life cycle.
Support systems engineering assessments through evaluations of system security engineering planning implementation and systems engineering technical reviews prior to key acquisition milestones.
Participate in independent technical risk assessments to assess technical risks and propose mitigation activities to improve program execution.
Work with the organization's counterparts within the Office of Secretary of Defense (OSD) efforts, Army, Navy, Air Force, and defense agency staffs on initiatives.
Prepare decision-makers for meetings and conferences.
Participate in program meetings and design reviews.

Job Requirements
10-12 years work experience. Bachelor of Science degree, advanced degree in a technical or quantitative discipline is highly desirable.
Active DoD Top Secret clearance.
Senior level program protection and cybersecurity experience.
Experience with DoD environment to include a comprehensive understanding of DoD acquisition and system security engineering policies.
Strong knowledge of the DoD weapon system acquisition and Systems Engineering processes defined in DoD policy and guidance.
Knowledge obtained through a combination of formal training and job experiences related to at least one of the following domain areas: Ships and Submarines; Rotary Wing and Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS); Fixed Wing; Land Combat; C2ISR; Business Systems; Missiles and Missile Defense; Space; and Communications.
Experience and understanding of System Security Engineering Policy (DoDI 5200.83, 5200.39 and 5200.44); and guidance (DAG Chapter 13).
An understanding of the system security engineering specialties requirements and design criteria (systems engineering specialties, supply chain, cybersecurity, hardware assurance, anti-tamper, software assurance, and defense exportability).
An understanding of the threats and vulnerabilities associated with Information (program and system information), Technology (CPI), and Components (mission-critical functionality) as well as key protection activities.
Excellent interpersonal and communication (oral and writing) skillsMust have experience in using critical thinking to prepare written reports and presentations for senior-level officials.
Demonstrated strong knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint software applications.
Desired Qualifications
Past military experience or military acquisition system experience is a plus.
TS/SCI security clearance.
Master's degree.
An understanding and the use of the application of DoDI 8500.01, DoDI 8510, DoDI 5200.39, DoDI 5200.44, DoDI 4140.67, NIST 800-53, NIST 800-171, NIST Handbook 162, and Risk Management Framework (RMF)/ DoD Cybersecurity Certification and Accreditation activities.
