Cloud Architect

Role Summary:
Our Cloud Architect will help define and coordinate architecture direction of large enterprise modernization efforts at WPS. Will be accountable for driving and producing architecture artifacts that include current/future state business and technology architectures. This Cloud Architect will also create and maintain reference architecture and patterns that will be used to guide projects. This Architect will also provide mentoring to other architects throughout the enterprise to apply new Cloud Architecture principles. To be successful, this Cloud Architect will be a thought leader and influencer, excited to provide the needed technology vision to enable business strategy success.
In this role you will:
- Understand business application portfolios, processes, and priorities, and use this information to design cloud- and hybrid-based technology architectures and solutions.
- Be an evangelist for cloud-related solution efforts.
- Maintain architectural principles that are used to accomplish a business-aligned IT strategy.
- Develop proposed business and technology change requests in alignment with IT strategy and business requirements.
- Create designs and assets to support project execution that aligns with IT strategy and supports successful delivery.
- Design solutions that exhibit high levels of performance, security, scalability, maintainability, reliability, and appropriate reusability upon deployment.
- Coordinate Proof-of-Concept implementations to infuse key new technologies as appropriate.
- Collaborate with business teams or technical teams such as infrastructure, security, web, and data to aid in use of architectural principles and decision-making.
- Perform project team reviews against architectural principles.
- Apply technical knowledge and business insights to create architecture roadmaps and assist in breaking down items for tactical execution.
- Review cloud usage for opportunities to improve efficiencies and/or reduce costs.
- Maintain technical trends, skills, and knowledge of cloud capabilities; share these with the internal technical community.
- Support team members in architecture efforts that may not be cloud specific.

- Have proven experience with design and implementation of large, complex enterprise systems over an extended period.
- Are adaptable and have a consultant mindset to ensure technology products and services are architected according to business needs.

You need to have:
- U.S. citizenship is required for this position due to Department of Defense restrictions
- Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent post high school and/or related work experience.
- 2 or more years of related work experience.
We highly prefer:
- 5 or more years of related work experience within the technical architecture domains.
- Deep experience in the design and build-out of cloud solutions.
- Deep domain experience in one or more of these areas:
- Container orchestration
- Continuous integration
- Cloud data or web platforms
- Data Governance
- Machine Learning, AI, or Data Science
We also prefer:

Master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, system analysis, business, or a related field of study. - 2 or more years' experience creating cloud solutions in Azure.
- An individual who has an entrepreneurial spirit and is not afraid of trying new things.
- A strong change mindset, flexibility, and openness to suggestions on how this role will evolve and grow in our environment.
- Working knowledge of agile/scrum frameworks.
- Familiarity with business architecture frameworks.

Your team:
This person will work in the Architecture team and report to the Architecture Manager. The Architecture team is part of the Transformation Organization of WPS. The purpose of this organization is to drive innovation and new business capabilities. Other areas in this organization are Cloud Engineering, Data Platform Modernization, Data Governance, Business Process Optimization, and Cognitive Analysis & Insights. The 7 people on the architecture team are responsible for helping those who implement and upkeep systems, such as infrastructure and software development teams, be more successful and efficient in their jobs through the successful implementation of IT projects and practices.
