Job Description:


The Merchandiser is accountable to work as part of a team to execute retail store deli area setting and resetting objectives in support of company sales and marketing objectives.



  • Provide input on development and the actual execution of store design plans.

  • Plan and coordinate timely product deliveries, which are required to effectively support setups and resets.

  • Effectively communicate with customer merchandising teams, store personnel, merchandising manager and any other Chef’s Warehouse’s operations, sales and merchandising personnel

  • At the direction of the sales manager, assist with merchandising proposals where required.

  • Assist with sales and merchandiser vacation coverage where needed.

  • Accountable for the cost-effective management and efficient control of any and all travel related expenses that are incurred as a result of sales and merchandising duties.

  • Perform other related activities as assigned.

  • Comply with established company policies and procedures in accomplishing the above accountabilities.

  • Ability and willingness to travel to customer locations on a daily basis, and periodically travel to assignments outside the region.

  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including some weekends.

  • Ability to perform repetitive bending and lifting of up to 50 pounds, sometimes in crowded quarters.


  • Minimum education: High School Diploma.

  • Previous food service distribution Inside Sales/Customer Service and/or call center experience preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of food service products, product categories and vendor community preferred.

  • Must be a team player with a positive attitude.

  • Excellent verbal, telephone and written communication skills.  Data entry and 10-key experience required.

  • Self-motivated, professional, goal oriented and able to handle multiple tasks.

  • Must have a sense of urgency and be able to work under pressure.

  • Flexibility: ability to work well with all departments and levels of staff both internally & externally.


Language Ability:

Bilingual in English/Spanish a +.  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret sales data and trends.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers or members of the business community. 


Math Ability:

Basic math skills with addition, subtraction and multiplication. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.


Reasoning Ability:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.


Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have advance level of expertise with Microsoft Word and Excel.  Preferred knowledge of, JDE, Canopy & other sales programs.  Must be able to operate common office machines.
