The Vendor Governance team within Human Resources (HR) plays a critical role in working with strategic third party providers, assessing vendor risks, and providing a framework for highly effective governance at all stages of the vendor life cycle.

This role will help manage the vendor governance program and ensure robust planning approaches, due diligence reviews, and ongoing monitoring processes are practiced for a portfolio of vendors that support the overall HR function.  By collaborating closely with business leaders, external providers, and internal subject matter experts and partners, the Manager will contribute to, and influence the direction of, evolving enterprise standards for vendor governance and third party risk management.  The individual also helps enable and advance key objectives by ensuring an appropriate balance between meeting business needs, protecting the Company, and promoting high internal quality standards for both new and existing vendor relationships.  As necessitated from time to time by evolving business needs, this individual may also lead or contribute to special projects and change initiatives that support key focus areas for the HR Planning and Governance function or the broader organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with business owners and key stakeholders to assess risk of third party vendors, and to provide consulting and guidance to appropriately manage risk throughout the vendor lifecycle consistent with third party risk management standards

  • Drive results by ensuring planning, due diligence and onboarding of new vendors, and ongoing monitoring and support of changes for existing vendors are completed timely and with high quality

  • Manage vendor action plans to closure based on initial due diligence or ongoing monitoring results

  • Maintain vendor monitoring plans and other centralized vendor documentation to facilitate analysis, cross-functional information sharing, and reporting across the full inventory of third party relationships

  • Act as a key interface to enterprise level groups, influence and contribute to the establishment and maintenance of enterprise-wide tools, approaches and standards related to third party risk management, and actively understand and advocate for HR’s interests

  • Help establish strategy and direction for the HR Vendor Governance Program, complete program deliverables, and drive process improvement initiatives that enhance speed, streamline decision making, and promote overall simplification

  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and data integrity of vendor inventory management system

  • Produce management reports and communications summarizing governance results for key vendors, including analysis on emerging issues, and targeted updates for leadership

  • Maintain strong, collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders across the business functions and corporate areas involved in vendor governance related efforts (including procurement, contracting, and key control functions) and communicate third party information across organizational lines where beneficial to the enterprise

  • Partner with internal groups to ensure periodic site visits for key vendors are planned and conducted using a risk-based approach 

  • Provide vendor governance awareness and training to new and existing stakeholders to ensure sound third party risk management program practices

  • As needed, lead and/or contribute to special projects and initiatives that support key focus areas of the HR Planning & Governance function or the broader organization.


  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college / university

  • At least 3 years of vendor governance/third party risk management work experience in a large corporate environment; proven business experience in managing vendor risk, including conducting vendor due diligence, vendor site visits, vendor control reviews, and ongoing vendor monitoring

  • Experience in consulting, third party risk management, or related control discipline such as audit, privacy or information security a plus

  • Financial Services industry experience and knowledge of Human Resources functions and processes a plus

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills with ability to organize and gather facts, navigate through ambiguous or complex issues, draw conclusions, and influence desired outcomes

  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills; ability to lead meetings and tailor messages clearly and concisely to various audiences.

  • Able to manage collaborative relationships with a broad set of stakeholders

  • Strong capability in planning and managing a wide variety of initiatives and concurrent priorities to produce high quality deliverables within established timelines

  • Results oriented self-starter, with ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

  • High degree of proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project and Visio

  • Overtime may be required during busy periods

  • Occasional travel may be required for vendor related meetings
