JOB SUMMARY:

Clemson University's CECAS Public Relations, Outreach, and Media Opportunities (PROMO) Department is looking for a Director to fulfil the following duties:
  • Responsible for the development, leadership, and execution of the College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences' strategic proposal development to federal/state agencies and foundations, communication, marketing and branding strategy.
  • Lead the strategic development and execution of a diverse set of activities for the College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences' Public Relations, Outreach and Media Opportunities (PROMO) department to include communication, outreach, marketing, and branding strategies to provide greatest impact on the academic and research enterprise.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


JOB DUTIES:



25% - Essential - Management:
Manages and directs leads in the College's PROMO group responsible for a broad range of strategic proposal development activities, outreach, communications, branding, and marketing and proposal development support, positioning the College, research centers, and associated innovation campuses for greater visibility, recruitment, and success. Serves as a member of the College's executive leadership team. Makes recommendations and participates in decision-making process for the College as related to the communication, Branding and Outreach and is accountable for results. Assigns work to appropriate PROMO leads for their respective program implementation; manages outcomes of direct reports; conduct annual assessment of work for all direct reports.

20% - Essential - Marketing, Campaign and Strategic Proposal Development:
Initiates and coordinates market studies and interprets data to support decision making and develop campaigns for internal and external partners, agencies and new academic programs. Leads in development efforts in all areas related to CECAS and Clemson University Center endeavors to include research proposal development and fundraising proposals leading to revenue generation. Provides exceptional communication and promotional services in digital marketing, video production and media releases. Responsible for the development and execution of the College's social media strategy.

20% - Essential - Strategic Planning:
Leads in the development of materials for marketing effectiveness in alignment of the College's strategic plan. Serves as part of the college' s leadership team, making decisions in support of college initiatives and in accordance to the strategic plan. Manages and assess staff leads in the development and execution of plans and measure outcomes. Provides leadership with guidance and strategic direction of the media and public relations enterprise. Oversight for all advertising and public relations throughout all media outlets for the college. Provides broader support of marketing and development related activities for CECAS Innovation campus activities, requiring travel and coordination with on-site personnel and local media outlets.

20% - Essential - Graphic Design:
Manages and directs PROMO and department level and center level program's instructional designers and graphic artists. Designs and or manages the design of brochures, presentations, business publications, website design, and other promotional vehicles to serve the College and proposal development opportunities. Responsible for web development support. Recruits and trains personnel on as required engage with graduate students on related graphic arts programs.

15% - Essential - Technical Writing and Editing:
Manages and is responsible for the technical writing team; ensuring sound technical writing and editing practices through the supervision of college media and writing staff as they relate to marketing and publications materials including websites and research databases. Performs data analysis; oversees preparation of journal publications; conference presentations; development and support of promotional materials, and research summaries and white papers.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education Bachelor's Degree in a Related Field

Work Experience 5+ Years of relevant experience in strategic campaigns and supervisory experience.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Education Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Graphic Communications, or other related field

Work Experience Experience in developing and implementing proposal development, communication, outreach and marketing campaigns in an academic setting. Must have supervisory experience.

Monitors Budget - Does not provide input but is responsible for monitoring the departmental budget and may oversee fund allocation.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Education Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Graphic Communications, or other related field

Work Experience Experience in developing and implementing proposal development, communication, outreach and marketing campaigns in an academic setting. Must have supervisory experience.

WORK SCHEDULE:

Standard Hrs: 37.5; Expected Salary Range: ($ 82,803.00- $ 115,000.00)
