Job Description:

GPS Manufacturer/Distributor

We are seeking an Internet Application Developer Intern who designs, develops, and maintains software applications with Garmin’s Operations department. The Application Developer will work in the Product Support and Shared Services group in Operations. 

Essential Functions:


  • Learn to design and develop web-enabled client-side and server-side applications as part of a structured Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process.

  • Learn to create enterprise software in support of Garmin’s ERP or web-based applications.

  • Learn to maintain, improve, and extend existing software.

  • Learn to work with analysts and users to design required software systems.

  • Learn to work with analysts to develop and implement unit and system testing processes

  • Provide Support to helpdesk on escalated problems and issues

  • Learns how to use and apply new technology as needed

  • Continually improve team requirements gathering, development, documentation and testing processes

  • Proactively identify opportunities to make improvements in applications and raise those up to leadership

  • Performs technical root cause analysis and structures resolution to meet immediate and long-term needs

Education, Experience, and Skill Required:


  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or a field relevant to perform the essential functions of this job description

  • Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)

  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Must possess relevant experience and/or training

  • Must possess relevant education and/or experiences as required for the specific projects he/she will develop

  • Demonstrated proficiency writing software in developmental languages (SQL, PHP,Javascript, Node.js, Python)

  • Ability to properly prioritize and manage multiple projects and support tasks at the same time

  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, identify root causes and resolve them
