Position Description

• Operate various heavy equipment handle bulk and break bulk commodities to and or from truck, rail car, vessel and storage locations in a safe and efficient manner by performing the following duties. Essential duties and responsibilities: • Maintain heavy equipment by performing pre-shift inspections, cleaning, adding lubricants and fuel and documenting all activity performed on said piece of equipment. • Must be able to read, understand and evaluate all documents associated with shipping and receiving. • Identify, evaluate and record count and conditions of incoming and outgoing various bulk and break bulk commodities. • Perform construction, including manual labor portions, of proper storage areas/racks for bulk and break bulk commodities. • Ability to lift 25 lbs.

Position Requirements

Experience / specific knowledge: • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions. • Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables. • Operate all heavy equipment and perform clerk and shipping and receiving functions • In order to appropriately perform the essential duties of this job, regular work attendance is required. • Able to carry out crew leader or supervisors instructions. • Self-motivated. • Safety in performance of duties common to the position. • Ability to work with others. • Ability to work alone. • Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license • Must obtain and/or meet all requirements to enter foreign trade zones; such as background checks by both the U.S. Coast Guard and the Department of Homeland Security, i.e. obtain and maintain a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC). • Must be willing and able to work as part of a team. • Treat people with respect, keeps commitments, inspires the trust of others, works with integrity and ethically, upholds organizational values. • Keep required job schedules. Physical demands: • Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and also but not limited to: heights in excess of 5 feet, moving mechanical parts, moving on track rail equipment, uneven terrain and high noise level in the work environment. • Communicate with supervision and co-workers via radio and hand signals. • Must wear company uniform. • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
