ABOUT THE POSITION

The County of Riverside - Riverside University Health System is currently recruiting for Per Diem License Vocational Nurses both day/night shift to come on board as helping hands for the Medical Center located in Moreno Valley to float throughout the various patient care units.

Shift Requirements are as follows:
- 2 shifts per week (Thursday-Wednesday)
- 2 weekend shifts in a 4 week scheduling period

A current BLS issued by the American Heart Association must be uploaded to profile at time of application to be considered.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Provides nursing care to patients within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act for vocational nursing; prepares patients for physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and cares for patients during treatment; administers medications subcutaneous, intramuscularly, intradermal, subdermal, and/or orally.

• Takes temperature, pulse, respiration and blood pressure of patients as necessary; applies and changes dressings; may collect specimens for laboratory analysis; assists physicians, mid-level providers and registered nurses in performing examinations, tests and treatments.

• Charts treatments and medications and maintains pertinent medical records; maintains clinical records and reports; reviews charts to determine what type of treatment patient may require and to assure proper clinic scheduling.

• Counsels and advises patients regarding proper health care methods; sets clinic appointments per established policies and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: None required.

Knowledge of: Current principles, techniques and procedures used with in the scope of the Nurse Practice Act for vocational nursing; medical terminology, hospital and/or health care procedures and equipment; medication administration as outlined in policies and procedures.

Ability to: Skillfully perform vocational nursing duties and responsibilities within the scope of professional practice of the Nurse Practice Act; learn and follow hospital and/or clinic policies and procedures; establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, mid-level providers, patients, and co-workers; complete and maintain report and clinical records per established policies and procedures.

Other Requirements:

License/Certificate: Possession of a valid California Vocational Nurse's License issued by the California Board of Vocational Nurse and Psychiatric Technician Examiners.

Certification : Possession of a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association for professional healthcare providers.

Per Diem employees participate in the 401(a) Temporary and Part-Time Employees' Retirement Plan and are required to contribute 3.75% of salary to the pension plan. The County contributes a matching amount.
