Idaho National Laboratory's (INL) Network and Communications group is seeking forward-thinking professionals interested in exploring a career as a Telephony/Video Conferencing Engineer!

Responsibilities Include:


  • Apply basic and advanced principles, theories, and concepts in providing for the installation, operation, and maintenance of INL voice and video communications systems.

  • Independently evaluates, selects, and applies scientific/technical techniques to solve projects of increasing scope and complexity.

  • Continued development in competency and independence while completing assignments, including handling multiple tasks or projects, always ensuring Communications Infrastructure management remains informed.

  • Work with customers throughout BEA, and with other INL based tenants, while representing Communications Infrastructure.

  • Support a diverse base of individual customers and projects, supplying to the successful completion of projects for DOE, BEA, Idaho Clean Up Project, Naval Reactor Facilities, NOAA, USGS and other INL tenant organizations, including design consultation, installation, operation, and maintenance support for National & Homeland Security Directorate programs (including the Wireless Test Bed Program).

Minimum Requirements:


  • Bachelors degree plus 2 years of experience, or Associates degree plus 6 years of experience or 10 years of relevant experience in leu of a bachelor's degree.

  • US Citizen. Able to obtain and maintain a DOE L security clearance.

  • Must have a complex understanding of the technical skills and terminology used by Communications Infrastructure personnel to facilitate completion work documentation

  • Experience in communications infrastructure, telephone systems, video conferencing, and traditional computer networks for a large organization

  • Optical, LAN/WAN management, and data /voice communications products knowledge

  • Experience with computer security, telecommunications, and information technology concepts and methods

  • Ability to analyze and solve problems and communicate effectively at all levels

  • Proven experience in maintaining and operating Crestron controlled integrated audio-visual systems.

  • Videoconference operation and testing with Crestron, Cisco, and other Microsoft Teams videoconference equipment.

  • Knowledge of DOE and other regulatory policies
