Job Description:

On January 11, 2021, we announced our intent to separate our severe genetic disease and oncology businesses into differentiated and independent publicly traded companies. We will retain focus on severe genetic disease (SGD) and will launch our oncology business ("Oncology Newco") as a new entity, with the completed transition expected by the end of 2021.

HOW YOU'LL FLY


As a Sales bird, reporting to the Sr Regional Business Director, you'll help to bring more patients their bluebird days by:



  • Accelerating patient identification for bbb hemaglobinopathies by interacting with key stakeholders within assigned accounts and geography to build awareness and education on bluebird bio gene therapies

  • Engaging with community and hospital HCPs focused on hemoglobinopathies and bone marrow transplant to facilitate consideration of gene therapy for patients and refer appropriate patients to a Qualified Treatment Center (QTC)

  • Developing go-to-market local, and account-based strategies and execute in a manner that conditions the market for one-time gene therapies and bluebird bio's first US product launch

  • Planning, organizing, and leading market development programs to build awareness of bluebird's product portfolio and provide disease and gene therapy education

  • Accurately delivering bluebird gene therapy products' clinical information and reimbursement information to support access to bluebird's portfolio

  • Advancing and deepening relationships with professional local/ regional opinion leaders, qualified treatment centers staff, hospital administrators, and other relevant external stakeholders that are essential partners in creating opportunities for patients

  • Building and executing a comprehensive account plan for qualified treatment centers, referral networks, and community practices and managing approved resources within provided budget

  • Partnering with market access, patient services, marketing, field medical affairs, and other internal bbb team members to ensure healthcare providers and other account-based decision-makers have timely access to clinical, health economic, and outcomes research information

  • Participating in patient advocacy, outreach, and identification with local advocacy organizations

  • Thinking broadly, strategically, and thriving in a fast-changing environment

  • Demonstrating bluebird values when achieving results

  • Gaining, synthesizing, and communicating valuable insights that enable the assessment of stakeholder needs

  • Attending conferences to deliver education on disease and gene therapy

  • Forwarding appropriate questions from HCPs into medical information requests

  • Contributing to the ongoing development of the SGD strategic sales plan



WHAT YOU'LL BRING


You're the bird we're looking for if you:



  • Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degree preferred (Master's Degree or MBA); Nursing or Scientific background highly desirable

  • Minimum of 5-8 years experience, including previous account management experience in the biotechnology/specialty field sales environment; specialty areas such as cell and gene therapy, Hematology, Transplant, Nursing, Oncology/Immunology or rare disease therapeutic experience, preferred

  • Must be able to travel throughout assigned geography and to commercial meetings; Approximately 65%-75% travel

  • Experience working with institutional or integrated delivery systems and/or large community accounts, with a sustained track record of achievement

  • Demonstrated strong commitment to "Patients First" mindset and ability to work cross-functionally and understand of all commercial roles and responsibilities

  • Keen ability to learn and understand the science and demonstrate strong disease and product knowledge

  • Strong relationship building skills applying a consultative approach to establish and sustain a strong network

  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to effectively present and engage with a wide range of stakeholders

  • Experience building strategy, account plans, and implementing tactics to meet strategic outcomes

  • Knowledge of payer coverage for specialty products, distribution, and reimbursement environment

  • Demonstrated ability to support both field team success and individual performance

  • Demonstrated ability to work compliantly and within all company policies and procedures

  • Ability to use Microsoft Office applications and CRM systems
