Associate Software Developer at Arthrex, Inc. in Naples, Florida

Job Description:

Main Objective: Assist with the development of reliable software applications that support Arthrex’s mission of helping surgeons treat their patients better by writing reliable code and collaborating in a cross-functional team environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Assists in software application development. Takes clearly defined requirements and instructions to meet intended objectives and key results.


2. Maintains and enhances existing applications. Effectively diagnoses and resolves application issues.


3. Assists with all aspects of the technology stack from client side programming to configuring servers and running applications.


4. Monitors applications for abnormalities and looks for areas to improve application availability and speed.


5. Works effectively with the UX, QA and Product Management teams during all stages of application development (ideation, design, build, test, and release).


6. Occasional travel for training, meetings or trade shows may be required.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Associate’s/Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field preferred.

At least 1 year of hands-on experience developing web/mobile applications, some experience or formal training with scripting languages and databases required. 

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

• Experience developing and supporting web and/or mobile applications using programming/scripting languages such as Ruby, Objective-C, Go, Python or Java.


• Experience developing applications using a framework such as Ruby on Rails or MVC on iOS a plus.


• Understanding of modern web development including JavaScript, responsive web design and front end frameworks such as React and AngularJS a plus.


• iOS, Swift, Objective-C, and UIKit development skills are a plus.


• Android and Java development skills are a plus.


• Basic understanding of good relational database design.


• Basic knowledge about web standards, W3C specifications and cross-browser/cross-platform/cross-device compatibility are a plus.


• Experience with distributed version control systems such as Git a plus.


• Ability to work effectively with little supervision and strong attention to detail in a team environment.


• Individual must be highly motivated and self-directed.


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


• Knowledge of or willingness to learn Ruby, Objective C, Go, Swift, Java, or any language/technology required by the project.
  
  
  

  Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

  Experience working with code editors and team collaboration software. Individual must feel comfortable using the command line. Experience with Mac OS X is a plus.
