Nemours is currently seeking a full time Peds/Adult Physician Assitant for our Cardiology Team!
This position is responsible for performing direct patient care services and care coordination in collaboration with an Attending and assisting with the overall care of the patients (pediatric and adult) receiving cardiac services in the Nemours outpatient clinics located at the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children, Nemours duPont Pediatrics satellite locations, and Nemours partnership sites. This position is focused on ACHD (Adult Congenital Heart Disease) Program, patients and providers, including those patients who intersect with Lympatics
Essential Functions:
As a member of the Cardiac team and collaborating with attending physicians, the physician assistant will perform comprehensive patient assessments including history and physical examinations and formulate assessment and treatment plans of congenital heart disease patients, pediatric and adult.
Order diagnostic tests, prescribe pharmacological agents and non-pharmacological treatments and promote wellness and prevention of health problems.
Communicate with physicians about changes in patient's clinical condition and results of diagnostic studies. Respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.
Educate parents/caregivers on patient condition and plan of care.
Triage and respond to phone calls/Epic messages from patient families, physical therapists, insurance companies, etc. regarding patient care.
Accurately Record patient information in the electronic medical record.
Communicate with appropriate medical staff for purposes of consultation, referral, and coordination of patient care.
Work collaboratively with providers, nurse practitioners, technologists, medical assistants, and others to facilitate patient care
Participate the Department's clinical coverage as requested and assigned; may include intermittent night or weekend coverage.
Must be able to work independently as part of multidisciplinary team.
Perform other duties as requested.
Requirements:
Graduate from a physician assistant program accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) of the American Medical Association
Current Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
Active Delaware Physician Assistant license
Delaware Controlled Substance Registration (CSR)
Federal Drug Enforcement Agency Registration (DEA) with Delaware address
Current AHA Healthcare Provider (HCP) Certification required
At least 1 year of previous experience is prefered
