Job Description:

Assists members with a wide variety of services and advise as to how best utilize company products and services in order to meet personal financial goals and provide the highest quality member service.

 Major Duties and Responsibilities



  • Assists members with opening and closing accounts, answers questions about products and services and resolves problems that are within their given authority to resolve. Refers problems that are beyond their authority to a supervisor, along with recommendations.

  • Interviews member loan applicants to develop information concerning their consumer loan needs, earnings, and financial condition. Explains consumer loan programs and recommends options. Contacts Central Underwriting Group for final loan decision. Processes and closes approved member loans. This includes setting up the loan in the computer system, printing required loan documents, obtaining all signatures, and disbursing loan funds.

  • Assures that appropriate records are maintained and required reports are prepared. Administers appropriate file maintenance to members’ accounts including, but not limited to, change of address, share comments/warnings, and name changes. Prepares letters and other correspondence, including new member letters, and closed account letters.

  • Identifies cross sell opportunities and educates members on credit union products and services. Follows up on referrals, identifying new relationship opportunities. Maintains and strengthens relationships with existing member base.

  • Receives and processes member financial transactions including, but not limited to, deposits, withdrawals, transfers and loan payments. Secures money in cash drawer at all times according to credit union security and procedural guidelines. Balances cash drawer and daily transactions.

  • Reviews each loan document for completeness and accuracy. Provides clerical support in the preparation of all loan forms and documentation. Provides general consumer loan information to existing and potential members including but not limited to consumer loan payoffs, vehicle values, loan rates and payment calculations. Processes transfers for loan payments. Sets up automatic loan payment transfers.

  • Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

Knowledge & Skills
Experience
Six months to two years of similar or related experience, including time spent in preparatory positions.

Education/Certifications/Licenses
A high school degree or GED is required.

Interpersonal Skills
Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization, generally regarding routine matters for purposes of giving and obtaining information, as well as advising or referring, which commonly require shorter discussions.

Physical Requirements
Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing/descending stairs in emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.

Working Conditions
Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work environment with moderate noise.

Mental and/or Emotional Requirements
Must be able to perform job functions independently and with limited supervision. Must work effectively as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be able to perform basic financial calculations with accuracy. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under stress of deadline, requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on confidential matters.
