Thales is currently seeking a Material Handler to join the Thales Avionics, a subsidiary of Thales USA team in Irvine, CA. The Material Handler is responsible for the success of assigned functions within Thales IFEC and the Distribution Center. Primarily, the Material Handler is responsible for site success through lean distribution/manufacturing and best-in-class warehouse management strategies. Specific duties include Freight Management, fulfilment of Inbound Operations (Unloading and Receiving), Warehouse Operations (Pick-Pack-Pull, Order Fulfillment, Inventory Management), and Outbound/Transportation Operations (Shipping, Carrier Relations). The Material Handler works directly with the Distribution Center Operations Manager to develop effective strategies and relevant objectives that increase productivity and control carrier expenses.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze SAP data in support of Distribution Operations Process shipments, validate inventory movements, and make recommendations to management on optimal processing methods
Maintain relationships with internal customers
Work with Material Handling, Manufacturing, and SCM to develop daily delivery schedules
Reconciliation of Material Handling transactions
Maintain historical shipment data trafficking of freight movements, ensuring adherence with transit time commitments and POD’s
Assist to fulfill material requirements for Distribution Center Activities
Maintain on-time delivery to OEM’s and Airlines Creation of export documentation in accordance and compliance with US regulations
Ensuring inventory accuracy and integrity are upheld
Development of continuous process improvement plans and initiatives
Maintain operational plans to support customer shipments and production needs (will involve working Saturdays and some Sundays)
Maintain and promote a safe work environment for all employees
Create and sustain a culture to support lean initiatives and promote lean values
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Utilizes small hand tools, scales and operates material handling equipment such as forklifts, skids, pallet handlers and hand trucks
Interfaces with other functional areas such as receiving inspection, production control and assembly departments in order to coordinate shortages or expedite stock problems
Create and sustain a culture to support lean initiatives and promote lean values
Understand revenue goals and timelines and develop appropriate plans
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Required Skills and Experience:
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business workflows related to a warehouse distribution center.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and other communications related to the warehouse distribution center.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
SAP or other ERP system experience
Proficiency with MS Excel (V-lookup, pivot tables, etc.)
Presentation skills are a plus
APICS, CPM classes and/or certification desired
Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
