The Medical Social Worker will join the family of dedicated nurses and other health care professionals living out a mission to heal people in body, mind and spirit. With services ranging from family-centered maternity care and high level neonatal care to technologically advanced cardiac services and an innovative palliative care program, our work touches people at every stage of their lives.
The Medical Social Worker will provide evaluation and counseling services to patients and their families receiving Hospice Services. Interventions include, but are not limited to, helping patients/families develop their own coping abilities to adapt to terminal illness, impending death and care of a person experiencing the former; and/or to utilize community resources to enable them to have the best quality of life and end of life care.
The Medical Social Worker will recommend optimum therapeutic approaches for inter-disciplinary team members to utilize in their interventions with patients and caregivers. The Medical Social Worker conduct bereavement counseling/debriefing for clients and staff members as needed. The Medical Social Worker will provide staff and volunteer education on psycho-social issues in home/hospice care.
The Medical Social Worker will manage the bereavement and volunteer program. Ideal candidate for the Medical Social Worker should have Master's degree in medical social work from a school accredited or approved by the Council on Social Work Education. Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) preferred. Minimum of 1 year medical social work experience with Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, current and maintained.
