The International Mission Board, a nonprofit religious organization in is seeking a Major Gift Officer for the West Region of the US.

Location: Remote-preferred Phoenix area. Accessible to major airport hub

Responsibilities:
This position resources the mission of IMB by providing direct cultivation of potential givers that result in regular gift closures.

⦁    RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT: Major gifts officers personally cultivate 75 to 150 current and potential giver relationships within their assigned portfolio, which are primarily located in the Western territory of the US. The officer involves the giver in meaningful and documented gift strategy discussions toward the mission of IMB. This will include, but is not limited to, the possible use of various outright and deferred giving options, including cash gifts, stock and real estate transfers, designation of life-insurance benefits, life-income gift arrangements, bequest and trust gifts, and other giving options that may provide additional incentives for the giver. The officer will maintain, guide and encourage relationships in their portfolio along an established moves-management plan aligned with the gift cycle toward transformational giving.  
⦁    ADMINISTRATION: On a weekly basis, the major gifts officer maintains record of all constituent activity in the Ministry Advancement database and completes additional administrative responsibilities as required. 
⦁    PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: The major gifts officer is responsible for maintaining a working knowledge of giving trends, changes to charitable tax law, giving vehicles and a general knowledge of philanthropy and ethics. Additionally, each officer will grow in their understanding of basic missiological practices, peer institution development practice, and strategic IMB giving opportunities.

Major Gift Officer will need to travel from large airport hubs to various locations in the western region of the US.  

Requirements:
⦁    At least 3 years of experience in Development/Gift Officer role.
⦁    Flexibility to travel 25-50% of the time
⦁    Working knowledge of relational database software
⦁    Broad understanding of SBC denominational culture and church life
⦁    Bachelor’s Degree
⦁    Strong verbal and written communication skills in order to sustain personal relationships
⦁    Self-motivated and able to initiate contact with constituents in portfolio
⦁    Effective constituent management; making sure tasks are completed
⦁    Able to explain planned giving concepts and the US tax code for non-profits
⦁    Maintain the respect and support of IMB constituencies
