Idaho National Laboratory is looking for our next Security Police Officers to join the Protective Force Team. This position is responsible for providing protection to personnel and property at the INL by implementing specific response requirements to safeguards and security emergencies.

We are excited to offer a relocation stipend to candidates who live over 50 miles from Idaho Falls! We are hiring multiple training "classes" off of this posting, with start dates in April and July 2022.

All candidates selected for the physical fitness test portion of the hiring process will need to be available on on October 17 and 18, 2021 to complete this test locally at an INL site location. More details will follow to those selected. All COVID-related safety precautions will be observed!

Responsibilities:


  • Complete all required training and certifications as outlined in the Tactical Response Force (TRF) 100 course and the Protective Force (PF) Annual Training Plan (ATP).

  • Must be familiar with assigned equipment and the proper intended use for each, to include safely maintaining and using assigned firearms.

  • Understand and implement trained tactics to resolve adversary actions as established by the Department of Energy (DOE) threat policies and in adherence to the DOE Deadly Force policy.

  • Have and maintain excellent public relations skills when working with the INL and visitor population and be responsible to report all security emergencies and provide assistance as required by DOE and company procedures.

  • Train with Local Law Enforcement personnel as required and be capable of directing or taking direction for an effective, aggressive, and timely resolution of adversary actions using force options, team techniques for interdiction, interruption, neutralization, and recapture operations.


Qualifications


  • Must be at least 21 years old by January 10, 2022 (or April/July 2022 if selected for those hire dates).

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.

  • Must be able to complete, obtain, and maintain all certifications for all training requirements, such as firearms, use of force, defensive tactics, etc.

  • Must be able to qualify for and obtain and maintain DOE Q clearance and the DOE Human Reliability Program (HRP) as applicable. Some areas that will be monitored will include:

    • Illegal drug use

    • Legal (prescription) drug abuse

    • Alcohol abuse

    • Financial stability and responsibility

    • Psychological stability

    • Arrests and probation

    • NOTE: SPOs are required to fulfill positions holding a high level of trust and are required to have an initial thorough background/clearance investigation and psychological evaluation in order to obtain a Q security clearance and acceptance into the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If an individual cannot obtain and/or maintain a Q clearance or HRP qualification from initial screening or subsequent reviews will be grounds for termination of employment.



  • Must be able to meet DOE physical fitness standards as required by 10 CFR Part 1046 Medical, Physical Readiness, Training, and Access Authorization Standards for Protective Force Personnel, Advanced Readiness Standard. This standard applies to SPOs assigned to response force duties.

  • New hires have to meet the following Physical Fitness Test:

    • One mile run with maximum qualifying time of 8 minutes 30 seconds

    • 5 minute rest

    • 40 yard prone-to-running dash with maximum qualifying time of 8.0 seconds

    • 5 minute rest

    • One-minute push-up test

    • 5 minute rest

    • 300 meter run

    • NOTE: Failure to meet the qualifying times for the one mile run and 40 yard dash during the Physical Fitness Test will remove the candidate from the new hire process. Disqualifying conditions as addressed in 10 CFR Part 1046; Medical, Physical Readiness, Training and Access Authorization Standards for Protective Force Personnel. A graded scale will be used for all Physical Fitness Test events. This scale will provide evaluation data to S&S personnel for interview purposes. See details in the Physical Fitness description section.



Certifications: Human Reliability Program (HRP), Respirator User, SPO II/III - 1 mile run required

Surveillances: Noise (Hearing Conservation Program)
