Job Description:

Johns Manville Is Hiring- Production Baler Operator in our Phenix City, AL Plant


Hourly Rate $16.28 + $600 Sign-On Bonus!!



This is a production position working to operate the baler. Working with plant management team at all levels within the organization to support the four Johns Manville core values: People, Passion, Performance, and Protection The essential duties and responsibilities include the following:



  • Supports and promotes safe practices and environmental commitments in alignment with company commitments, policies, and compliance requirements

  • Operates machine and observes operation to detect malfunctions of machine.

  • Works with Line Control operator to ensure grinding of waste material provides a consistent to supply the baler machine.

  • Stops machine and reports malfunction to supervisor. Works with maintenance technician to accurately diagnose malfunction root causes.

  • Identify and segregate product for re-work material.

  • Responsible for accurately reporting re-work material.

  • Ensure that product is packaged according to standards.

  • Count, weigh and record finished product.

  • Distribute product to designated locations.

  • Accurately record all production.

  • Always use safe work practices, follows all safety rules and procedures, immediately reports any hazardous conditions, and fully participate in safety program.

  • Perform safety observations and complete training assignments.

  • Wears all personal protective equipment as required by policy, including but not limited to all or some of the following; protective shoes, glasses, ear plugs, bump cap or hard hat, dust mask or respirator.

  • Performs other duties as directed.


Qualifications



  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

  • Ability to write simple correspondence.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

Visual acuity is required to work around and with machinery including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception



Work Environment


This job is in an industrial, manufacturing environment. The job requires working frequently around and with heavy machinery with moving mechanical parts, industrial ovens, and mobile equipment. The environment is not climate controlled and employees must be able to work in environments that may be extremely hot and humid or cold depending upon the operation and the season. Walking surfaces can be wet, dusty, and uneven. Areas of the building where work must be done have high noise levels, vibration, and/or fumes. Some working areas contain the presence of airborne particles which can irritate the skin or eyes. The manufacturing process involves toxic or caustic chemicals. Employees are required to wear personal protective equipment which includes steel toed shoes, ear protection, eye protection and in certain areas may be required to where dust masks, respirators, gloves or head protection.
