Idaho National Laboratory's (INL) Safeguards and Security Directorate is hiring a Safeguards Staff Specialist. This position will work a 4x10 schedule throughout our INL facilities.

Specific responsibilities include:


  • Represent the Safeguards organization in implementing DOE orders and directives.

  • Employ scientific and ground breaking engineering solutions to technical challenges of the Safeguards program for special nuclear material at the INL.

  • Developing performance tests, analyzing data gathered during nuclear material inventories of material balance areas (MBAs), database development and maintenance, and prepare and deliver presentations of data analysis results.

  • Providing technical support to the Materials Control and Accountability section of the Safeguards organization by conducting performance assurance activities such as assessments and performance tests as deemed necessary by Safeguards staff and the Safeguards Manager.

  • Provide data used to analyze MC&A system effectiveness, to validate requirement compliance, and to review trending observed through oversight activities within MBAs.


Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in applicable scientific or engineering fields plus 5-8 years of relevant experience.

Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance with HRP (Human Reliability Program).

Preferred experience:


  • Nuclear operations experience, such as MBA custodian, MC&A, or safeguards experience

  • Database, PowerPoint, LabWay, and other computer software programs used to review and analyze data
