Job Description:

Bright Horizons Children's Centers seeks a full time Data Architect at our offices located at 2 Wells Avenue, Newton, MA 02459.

Job Description: Deliver data architecture design and solutions for critical projects, including:


  • Create, maintain, and architect the Schema Data Models using Erwin Data modeler tools for the Operational Data Store and the Enterprise Data Warehouse applications.

  • Organize, develop and deliver customized Data solutions for DBMS platforms including MS SQL Server, Oracle, Cloud and API Based Applications data Platforms;

  • Provides architectural assessments, strategies, and roadmaps for data management. Translate detailed business requirements into optimal database and ETL (Extract, Transform, and Load) solutions, including:

  • Conduct requirements gathering sessions with business analysts and document the business needs;

  • Utilize SQL and T-SQL server database systems to perform data analysis and create metrics to determine the appropriate data architecture;

  • Analyze, interpret, and model data to meet business requirements, and transform into optimized ETL solutions;

Address performance and scalability issues and perform capacity planning, including:


  • Analyze and predict the data volume for EDW and actively compare the database and infrastructure capacity for optimized performance to prevent disasters;

  • Measure performance of analytical queries, and recommend horizontal or vertical scaling to avoid issues with data maintenance.

Design and develop ETL solutions to support key business data/data warehouse requirements using Data Integration tools, including:


  • Participate in design sessions related to ETL development and make appropriate recommendations;

  • Develop, enhance and implement ETL Solution for building the Audit model framework to reconcile data between variety of DBMS & Cloud Based Source Systems and target database;

Design, develop and implement complex data warehouse programs and data models, including:


  • Implement functions, procedures, triggers, packages and other database solutions;

  • Maintain data quality, integrity and overseeing database security and access.

  • Identify long-term, strategic data needs for the enterprise, and define how the data relates to the business processes.

Support Enterprise master data management (MDM) initiatives utilizing emerging technologies, including:

  • Create the MDM roadmap, formulating methods to integrate data managed across all platforms.

Position Requirements:

Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or any other technology field, plus five years of experience in the Job Offered, or in any data management role in a data architecture environment. Experience, which may be gained concurrently, must include each of the following:


  • Five years of experience translating detailed business requirements into optimal database and ETL solutions utilizing industry standards for processes, tools and technologies.

  • Five years of experience utilizing SQL/PL, SQL and SQL query optimization;

  • Five years of experience designing and building ETL solutions using SSIS, Informatica, Data Stage and Data Migrator;

  • Five years of experience performing data warehouse development on a major RDBMS such as Oracle, DB2, Netezza or SQL server;

  • Five years of experience performing data modelling utilizing OLTP and OLAP concepts; and

  • Three years of experience mentoring and coaching technical team members.
