Position Summary

 

The Human Resource Specialist will perform a variety of human resources duties, which requires basic knowledge of personnel policies and procedures related to compensation, benefits, AA/EEOC, training and staffing. This position will report directly to the local Plant Manager and functionally to the Regional Director of Human Resources.  

 

Essential Responsibilities

 


  • Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships

  • Provide human resource policy guidance and interpretation

  • Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line management

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partner with Regional HR Director as needed/required

  • Identify training needs for business units and individual coaching needs

  • Participate in evaluation and monitoring of success of training programs. Follow-up to ensure training objectives are met

  • Conduct recruitment effort for all non-exempt personnel; extend employment offers; conduct pre-employment process

  • Conduct on-boarding for new hires, including verification of I-9’s and benefit overview

  • Maintain personnel files in compliance with applicable legal requirements

  • Process personnel action forms and assure proper approval; disseminate approved forms

  • Participate in any required meetings

  • Communicate with corporate HR and payroll department as needed      

  • Other duties may be assigned as needed

Experience / Requirements

 


  • Bi-lingual in Spanish Required.

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Must have related experience in a human resources department, at least 1 year is preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree desired

  • Must have excellent verbal and written skills and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

  • Versatility, flexibility and willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm

  • Ability to perform diversified clerical functions and basic accounting procedures

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Excel and Power Point

  • Detail oriented and highly organized

  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
