Position summary:

The Hot Tapping Technician is responsible for the safe and proper execution of HydroChemPSC jobs across the services line. Depending on the application performs a variety of hot taps or line stops. Experience with various hot taps dictates the degree of difficulty the technician will be able to perform. This position requires the ability to work with or without supervision, in a safe manner.

Essential duties:

• Learns and gains experience in the duties of a hot tap / line stop technician performing hot taps/line stops and attending regular training classes.


• Making a safe entry into a pipe or vessel; operating at a pressure or vacuum.


• Hot taps and conventional line stops


• Folding head line stops


• Hot Stops


• 45 degree angle taps


• Double line stops


• Across-the-line stops


• Through the line value stops


• Freeze stops


• Tee stops and elbow stops


• Experience working with the numerous types of hot tapping equipment and manufacturers


• Experience working with the numerous types of line stopping equipment and techniques


• Responsible for safety policies and procedures of both the company and the customer, including hands-on information regarding operations, safety, equipment, emergency response and administrative functions.Completes all required training, including tests, within Company guidelines.


• Is aware of all Company products and services that are available to our customers


• Additional duties as assigned.

• Industrial setting, refinery, petrochemical, utilities, pulp and paper mills, etc.

Qualifications
Educational requirements:

• High school diploma / GED or equivalent experience.

• Three (3) or more years' experience performing duties as a hot tap or leak repair specialist


• Completed all required Company safety and job related training and demonstrated proficiency of the methods, procedures, and tools used to accomplish the task being performed.


• Ability to perform a variety of task, often changing assignments with short notice


• Must possess a valid driver's license.


• Knowledge of plant operations and maintenance processes


• Proven ability to prioritize and complete work assignments by specific deadlines.Proven ability to communicate with customers, supervision and co-workers.


• Proven ability to follow precise directions and procedures as directed by supervision.
