Job Description:

To drive Business Category and Brand level focus for consumer, customer, and high impacting internal quality issues. Implement prevention-related programs that will mitigate process and product failure in the innovation quality space.  Understand risk for new model programs and develop quality plan for successful product launches globally.

To plan, implement, manage and participate in the assigned Quality operations to:


  • ensure that the pre-commercialization quality activities are completed

  • communicate quality related information throughout SCJ

  • identify methods and technologies to improve quality and productivity

  • identify and participate in Consumer and Customer driven quality improvement projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This role will plan and manage the implementation of Quality Improvement initiatives. Responsible for planning, managing, and participating in the pre- and post-commercialization quality activities, which include, but are not limited to:


  • use of statistical techniques to develop and improve products and processes

  • FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis)

  • process mapping

  • control plans

  • evaluation of production capabilities

  • review and improvement of consumer complaint data

  • RCA (Root Cause Analysis) and resolution of quality issues

Partner with a variety of departments and potentially other Business Units within the company, including regional/global Leadership Teams, RD&E, Legal, Product Supply, Logistics, Procurement, Contract Manufacturing and Marketing. 

The role will be responsible and accountable to:


  • Partner with Global RD&E, Marketing, Supply Chain and Call Center personnel to drive project teams to address top consumer / Customer complaints, customer service, and high internally impacting quality issues.

  • Serve as a voting Sponsor for all Global new product Technical Reviews gates.   Reviewing Technical requirement deliverables and understanding risk to determine product advancement outcome.

  • Develop the overall quality plan for new products. Partner with the business teams to identify & address early risks for product changes and new product introductions.

  • Establish and implement design guidelines for products to address systemic issues and support new technologies.

  • Sponsor the facilitation of Design and End Use FMEAs and other risk analysis tools during the development phase of new products.

  • Leverage lessons learned and knowledge management tools to drive systemic product and process improvement.

  • Utilize QFD to ensure that customer requirements are translated into relevant technical designs throughout each stage of product development.

  • Determine Quality resources needed on all new projects and engaging the Regional resource owners early in the new product development process.

  • Coordinate Quality activities on programs that have multiple manufacturing locations and multiple launch regions.

  • Classify defects for products, in conjunction with launch teams, to ensure consistency of defect classification across the globe.


  • Promote the application of quality engineering, reliability engineering and preventative techniques such as statistically designed experiments, FMEA, AQL and Defect Classification, and Control Plans throughout the entire organization.

  • Key KPI performance:  Consumer Complaints, First Pass Prime, Critical Defects, Capability, etc.

  • Develop, implement, manage, and participate in the Quality Improvement programs aimed at innovation quality and technology transfer.

Required Skills / Experience 


  • Bachelors degree in Science, Engineering or related discipline

  • Min 7 years working in RD&E or a Quality-related field with a strong emphasis on quality tools (such as 8D, FMEA, FTA, QFD, DMAIC, Risk management, Knowledge management etc)

  • Thorough and updated knowledge of applicable quality techniques required, which include:

    • Component and product life testing techniques and data analysis

    • Applied Statistics including Design of Experiments

    • New product development and commercialization processes



Preferred Skills / Experience


  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or Chemistry preferred

  • MBA preferred

  • GMP Experience in pharmaceutical or food industry preferred

  • Strong communication skills – both written and orally. Ability to present on various topics to executive committees when requested and discussing issues with plant personnel

  • Dealing with Ambiguity - Ability to work on issues that are not clear cut (go / no go) and require a multi-functional viewpoint to ensure the team keeps focus on protecting the Consumer and Brands while considering the overall business impact.

Job Requirements:


  • Full Time

  • 30% travel required, including overnight
