Customer Logistics Specialist at Continental Mills in Tukwila, Washington

Job Description:

This position contributes to Continental Mills continued success by providing the highest level of customer order management services to Continental Mill’s customers, providing value added solutions to meet customer’s supply chain needs most efficiently, and working effectively in a team-based environment. This person will receive and process orders, proactively identify opportunities to improve our service to our customers and make recommendations accordingly.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time.


  • Create/maintain excellent relationships with internal and external customers.

  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve the flow of product from Continental Mills to our Customers.

  • Support Product Development Projects.

  • Effectively and efficiently manage all day-to-day order management activities for assigned customer base.

  • Proactively identifies and resolves service issues, coordinating as necessary with Carriers, Distribution, Warehousing, Production, Quality and Accounts Receivable.

  • Remain current on customer’s supply chain requirements.

  • Prepare export documentation, commercial invoices, NAFTA certificates and Bioterrorism documentation and coordinate with export freight forwarders.

  • Perform vendor managed inventory duties as assigned. Includes forecasting, joint goal setting, and managing activities across Supply Chain Planning, Sales & the Customer, both Buyers & Supply Chain personnel.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Strong technical skills in order management, replenishment, and data synchronization.

  • Ability to develop and assimilate data to maximize CM execution in the areas of customer service and data synchronization.

  • Proven knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point).

  • Commitment to continued self-development and learning.

  • Ability to make decisions based on CM parameters and guidelines.

  • Ability to travel as business need require.

Education and/or Experience:


  • Bachelor’s Degree with a Business focus or equivalent experience preferred

  • 3+ years’ progressive customer service experience required; food industry experience preferred

  • Experience with Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) in a consumer food setting preferred

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone along with reaching. Specific vision abilities include close vision requirements due to computer work. Moderate noise, ability to work in a confined area, and ability to sit at a computer for an extended period of time are also included.
