Job Description:


General Summary:

The Fabrication Equipment Operator is responsible for operating a variety of bending equipment to produce component parts in accordance with part drawings and within predefined tolerances.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Responsible for completing orders per order specifications.

  • obtains a work order kit and identifies the cart to start the next order of parts. The angled saw is programmed and set up to complete the cutting of parts for the assembly process. Uses tools and a computer touch screen to set up the work area along with changing over dies within the system.

  • changes blades periodically weighing 20 pounds and will carry the blades to the machine.

  • frequently on his/her feet during operation and loading/unloading of the saws. Parts may be required to be rotated end to end and turned over to make cuts on various locations of the heads, blades, sills, jambs and flanges for assembly of the units.

  • manipulation and lifting of parts weighing from one pound to upwards to 43 pounds and measuring from 12 inches to 140 inches. The team member is able to get help when needed and is encouraged to lift no more than 50 pounds without assistance. Longer parts may be awkward to handle and therefore the team members will receive help from other team members in the surrounding areas as needed.

  • Use measuring equipment and calipers to verify the quality of product as parts are completed and unloaded from the equipment and back onto the transfer carts. The carts may require forceful pushing and pulling efforts of upwards to 80 pounds when transferring from the aisle to the work centers.

  • Perform daily operator preventative maintenance tasks

  • Maintain daily housekeeping

  • Other duties, as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:


  • HS Diploma or GED, required

  • Between 3-6 months prior manufacturing experience (Sheet metal manufacturing experience, preferred)

  • Basic math and computer skills

  • Ability to read measuring devices; use caliper and thickness gauges, and distinguish between various thickness and type of material

  • Ability to recognize the correct tooling for the machine to perform the correct job

  • Strong attention to detail and high level of concentration to ensure quality work

Physical Demands:


  • Must lift up to 75 lbs. on a regular basis

  • Standing for a minimum of 8 hours per day

Continuous lifting, kneeling, pulling, bending, etc.
