Job Description:

Provide business analytics and budget management support to key commercial functions and projects.  Lead modeling and analysis efforts to support market, brand performance forecasting and decision support for pre-launch, in-market and pipeline products, as well as some business development activities.  Support the commercial organization with development of analysis of prescriber targeting, sales force deployment and sales incentive compensation (usually in conjunction with the contract sales organization).  Provide meaningful and actionable data and analysis to the organization.



Responsibilities


  1. Launch Planning Support: Serve as a member of product Launch Teams - provide analytics, forecasting/modeling, and budget management support during the pre-launch planning and launch execution phase.  Work with members of the Launch Team and with vendors/partners to develop business analytics, or to guide/interpret and apply analytics developed by others, to ensure that optimal strategic decisions are made for the launch.


    1. Have accountability for building and revising the forecast. Work with business insights/market research to identify the data and other inputs needed to enhance the brand forecast.  Work with Finance to ensure that official versions of the forecast and associated financial projections are provided for senior leadership review and for routine budget updates.

    2. Work with external partners, especially the Contract Sales Organization, to develop and challenge the data-supported recommendations and programs for the launch, including sales force deployment and targeting, sales force incentive compensation, and sales force performance reporting.

    3. Provide analytics decision-support to the Launch Team on key decisions that require data-based decision support.

    4. Assist the Launch Team in developing, tracking and adjusting the budget allocated to the brand. Lead the financial analysis required to support recommendations to adjust the brand budget.




  1. In-Market Product Support: Provide business analysis support for currently marketed products, including “legacy” products that are not actively promoted.


    1. Ensure that product prescription volume forecasts are updated to reflect product and market trends, as well as insights on competitor and payer activities, and planned promotion support for the product

    2. Assist the Brand Lead, and as a member of the Brand Team, lead the analysis of prescriber and other customer potential in order to develop and maintain “target lists” for sales force and other promotion tactics

    3. Support the head of Market Access and Trade in the development of managed care contract proposals, including the preparation of contract proposals for review by the Payer Oversight Committee.

    4. Provide routine monthly reports to track the performance of the brand and the results/productivity achieved by the organization.




  1. Support for Pipeline Products and New Business Opportunities: Provide business analysis support, especially long-term forecast models, for the assessment of new product opportunities and the management of funded development projects.  This includes support for;


    1. individual pipeline projects that are being managed by a CDT, through support for the head of New Product Commercialization,

    2. The Noven and joint Noven-Hisamitsu “Gensecki” product ideation processes, and

    3. Business Development projects where market and product forecasts or general assessments are needed to determine Noven’s interest in a potential transaction.




Qualifications

Competencies:

 

Skills:  Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with a cross functional team.  Must possess strong forecasting skills (understanding of the data and insights required for pharmaceutical market and brand modeling, and the elements of a detailed brand P&L that drive gross sales and gross-to-net deductions), and the computer/software skills (especially Excel) needed to build and maintain forecast models.

Knowledge: Strong Excel is required, must know how to pull data from various data sources and to analyze trends.  Pharmaceutical market (prescriptions, payers, distribution channels) knowledge is required.

Behavior: Highly visible role -  individual must be professional.  Must be able to work quickly and accurately under pressure and be able to deliver with quick turnaround time.

Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree required, MBA preferred, with five to seven years of work experience in Pharmaceuticals.  PC literate with excellent proficiency in office application software, particularly Excel.  Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships, and to interact with upper management.  Able to work independently with minimum supervision with a high degree of accuracy under tight deadlines.

Work Environment:  

Air-conditioned office environment.  Majority of time spent sitting at desk and in meetings operating computer and talking on the phone. Occasional extra hours required to meet project deadlines.  Attention is frequently shifted between multiple priorities.

Physical Demands:

Visual and manual dexterity required to perform clerical duties, including operating office machinery and checking documents for accuracy.
