Job Summary

This position operates a vertical grinder to grind or polish glass edges. Track, locate, and record edger production on schedules provided by Lead person.  Communicate production demands with operators on each shift.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Read and understand sketches and interpret their meaning onto glass edges


• Set-up and operate a grinder to fabricate a quality, within tolerance, ground or polished edge


• Operate an overhead assist lift 


• Perform routine maintenance on machines 


• Learn to set up polishing machine(s) for various edges and edge combinations


• Read schedules and understand edger’s production demands based on information schedules


• Complete daily work sheets and forms, on paper and computer


• Safely perform tasks and adherence to all safety policies and procedures, including Critical Safety Rules, are essential functions of this job


• Understand units of measurement and be able to perform general mathematical equations


• Work in other departments as required


• Regular and predictable attendance

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old


• Work overtime with flexible starting times in some departments


• Lift up to 50 pounds


• Stand and walk on concrete floor for eight hours or more


• Wear company issued safety shirt, hard hat, steel toed boots, safety glasses and hearing protection


• Comparable experience preferred
