The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Lean Value Stream Engineer (Product Engineer), you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

• Leading product improvements utilizing the LSS methodology towards improvements in unit cost reduction, PPU & quality improvements - from Raw Materials to Customer with support from the Process and Quality teams. This includes leading supplier management as it relates to the quality of your products.


• Being responsible for strong leadership in driving EHS&R alignment, with the support of the plant Safety organization related to the products & its raw materials (TSCA, IH, etc.).


• Leading new product scale-ups and qualifications


• Supporting the value stream as the key contact for our customers, translating the voice of the customer into operations


• Being responsible for Product Quality, including maintaining customer alignment and leadership around proactive quality improvements. This includes driving customer compliance and corrective action in alignment with plant and specific product quality management systems with the support of the Plant Quality Team.  

Your Skills and Expertise 
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution


• Five (5) combined years of experience in product engineering, process engineering, project engineering or management, and/or quality engineering in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution


• Seven (7) combined years of experience in product engineering, process engineering, project engineering or management, and/or quality engineering in a private, public, government or military environment


• Experience in chemical manufacturing


• Training and experience in Lean methodology, statistics, SPC, DOE, and Six Sigma


• Green Belt/Black Belt certification


• Demonstrated results driving projects/initiatives related to product quality improvement, unit cost modeling, and cost reduction projects


• Demonstrated results leading product improvement projects


• Experience leading or participating on cross functional teams, especially across multiple sites or divisions


• Excellent interpersonal skills, with strong communication skills both verbal and written, analytical and organizational skills to manage different priorities


• Ability to prioritize, multi-task and remain flexible to changes; responds with a sense of urgency


• Technical experience in batch reactor manufacturing

Travel: May include up to 10% (domestic/international)

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized
