Cooper Standard's Lead Prototype Technician leads a team that fabricates prototype parts ensuring that end product conforms to requirement identified on work order, customer blueprint and/or specifications.
Primary Responsibilities:
Leads and mentors prototype technicians in coordinating daily prototype builds
Provides support in Quality Audits, Customer Complaints, and Failure Analysis
Act as main point of contact with engineering regarding any concerns, issues, or timing
Sets up, operates and maintains all equipment required to fabricate prototype parts
Produces prototype fabrications in a timely and quality manner
Maintains accurate records of all time and expenses incurred in the fabrication of each prototype order
Expertise in ensuring good plant 6S standards are followed. Insures housekeeping and health and safety standards are maintained
Processes orders with minimal supervision
Supervise training for all new prototype technicians
Works with a limited degree of supervision within established laboratory/prototype procedures and practices.
Manage preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs
Works with internal and external customers
Must operate in a manner that reinforces, supports, and is consistent with the Cooper Standard Leadership Model
May, on occasion, be required to perform duties other than those specified in this description
Education and Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Two Year College Degree or applicable Technical Training and Certification is preferred
Eight plus years of relevant work experience
Previous experience leading others preferred
Working knowledge of fabrication equipment
Blueprint reading skills
Strong mechanical aptitude
Microsoft Office Skills
Fork-lift Certification is highly preferred.
Lockout Tag-out Certification
First Aid Certification
Ability to lift up to thirty pounds on a regular basis
Willingness and ability to travel, as necessary
Work Environment/Work Conditions:
Professional Office Environment and Manufacturing facility
Must wear proper personal protection equipment while on manufacturing floor
Travel to manufacturing facilities or customer locations when required
Equipment used requires proper training on the potential for and avoidance of injury
