Overview:The Director of Logistics is responsible for both strategic and tactical leadership of the transportation and logistics teams. This position requires extensive expertise in warehouse and carrier management, private fleet operations, as well as SOP development, implementation, and management. A strong business acumen coupled with logistics financial analysis is essential. This role will report to the VP of Global Operations and will be located in the Woodlands, TX.



  • Strategy. In consultation with the VP of Global Operations, create a warehousing and transportation strategy that provides for short- and long-term benefits and delivers best-in-class performance. The strategy should address capacity planning, private fleet vs. carrier utilization, carrier strategies, freight and duty charges, brokerage costs, utilization of technology, and capital planning


  • Third-Party Logistics Ownership. Responsible for 3rd party logistics (3PL) operations

    • Oversee transportation team and logistics analysts

    • Optimize the organization's warehousing and transportation networks

    • Develop strategies to improve the efficiency of our inbound and outbound logistics operations

    • Select 3PLs to support warehousing and transportation needs, leading related RFP processes and minimizing costs and volatility while improving service levels

    • Manage relationships with 3PLs and evaluate their performance through relevant KPIs

    • Manage performance of 3PLs through service, quality and regulatory compliance guarantees

    • Develop issue resolution process to proactively address and/or mitigate 3PL service issues, backlogs and delayed shipments

    • Manage an EDI integration project with selected 3PLs

    • Lead implementation of an enhanced TMS/Regional Control Tower




  • Cost Management / Reduction. Identify opportunities to reduce costs through development of strategic relationships, freight consolidation, route management, competitive bidding, identification of new national and regional carriers, and streamlining and continually improving internal processes


  • Team Collaboration- Work effectively across the Supply Chain organization and cross-functionally to deliver best-in-class service to our growing list of customers and ensure the transportation and logistics strategy is defined and aligned with the company's overall strategic direction and goals. Work closely with the executive team and functional leaders to establish priorities for selected opportunities

Required Experience:


  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in warehouse and carrier management

  • Minimum of 5 years' leadership experience in distribution operations in a multi-facility environment with P&L responsibility preferred

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Supply Chain Management, Finance, or Business

  • Extensive customer fulfillment, warehousing, and materials handling background required

  • Six Sigma/Lean manufacturing experience a plus

  • Demonstrated success in leading and developing teams and collaborating cross functionally
