Overview

POSITION PURPOSE:

- Responsible for all aspects of laboratory operation in accordance with quality assurance principals.
- Product testing per customer requirements.
- Sample Retain segregation and disposal
- Sample Shipping
- Investigative testing, as instructed by management and/or requested by the customer.
- Minimize negative impacts to the environment in all areas of operation.
- Identify and record problems (non-conformances, incidents and near misses); initiate, provide, implement and
verify solutions to those problems.
- Ensure continuous improvement in all areas pertaining to the job which include quality, health, safety, security,
and environmental.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

- Participate in employee teams and programs
- Serve as a steward for any managements systems as required.
- Serve as a steward for terminal programs if required (Hazcom, PPE, SCBA, First Response Team, STOP, etc.)
- Participate in Audits, Assessments, and Quality Audits as required.
- Speak at safety meetings as required.
- To operate the lab with safety as top priority
- To perform all required testing with precision, integrity and in accordance with the ASTM methods and the site
specific procedures
- To keep the lab instruments in good working order and calibrate them when necessary
- To keep the lab clean and in an orderly fashion at all times
- To keep accurate and legible records of the work being done in the lab for quality, billing and traceability purposes
- To write site specific lab procedures, test methods, calibration methods (using ASTM methods and customer
specifications) and the like where appropriate as required by the ISO 9001:2015 Standard and IMTT.
- To perform special projects as requested
- To package and ship all samples to customers as needed
- To work on call on all off shifts for unscheduled emergency lab testing
- Perform environmental responsibilities such as identification and classification of waste materials as needed
- Ensure measuring devices are calibrated and meet the ISO 9001:2015 Standard requirements for calibration;
these devices include thermometers, dip tapes, meters, scales, etc.
- Assist the Lemont Assistant Quality Coordinator as needed with document changes/control.

COMPETENCIES:

- The ability to read, write and understand the English language
- Ability to see (20/20) with no color vision deficiencies and hear either naturally or through the use of corrective
lenses
- Perform basic mathematical functions
- Physical ability to climb tanks as needed
- Perform general physical test methods, basic wet chemistry, gas chromatography and recording data accurately.

- Apply quality assurance protocols such as statistical quality control and calibration method
- Use general computer functions such as e-mail and Microsoft Office Excel programs.
- Must be able to pass a physical ability test, medical examination and drug test. This position is also subjected to
random drug screening.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

- High School Diploma
- 2 to 3 years of experience in a laboratory environment is required

RED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Familiarity with an industrial setting is preferred
