Job Description:

The Vice-President, Business Development will be responsible for leading a team in the identification, qualification, proposal process and award of new business opportunities and maintaining and growing existing customer relationships and market partnerships for the organization.

Reporting to the Cyber President, the Vice-President, Business Development always acts with integrity and the highest ethical standards while enabling the team to achieve predictable and balanced results and satisfy the needs of internal and external partners. The candidate will be experienced in modeling personal growth and continuous development, building an inclusive environment that attracts, retains, and inspires a diverse and engaged team. He/she will create trusted and valued customer relationships and develop and execute strategies that result in sustainable value creation to deliver measurable growth.

Key Responsibilities


  • As a member of the local senior management team of the business, establish and lead team of business development professionals to execute new business development and strategic growth initiatives

  • Support identification and shaping of business opportunities and management of overall short-term and long-term opportunity funnel

  • Lead robust competitive assessments, identify win discriminators, supports price-to-win, win themes, and determine resources required to execute new business development activities

  • Support development of strategic objectives for the growth of the business in close collaboration with business senior management team

  • Collaborate with systems design and capture teams to ensure that customer requirements are met and business profitability

  • Partner with the other Ultra Divisions to capture larger, strategic opportunities

  • Provide customer budget analysis across governmental and key customer budgeting cycles.

  • Provides decisional analysis of customer acquisitions, decision milestones, and practices

  • Supports industry teaming and collaboration with Ultra and industry teammates to accomplish strategic objectives for the mission area

  • Uphold, safeguard, and promote Ultra's values and philosophy, particularly in regard to accountability, ethics, integrity, security regulations, and corporate responsibility in accordance with company guidelines.

  • Any other duties as and when required.

  • Frequent national and international travel.

Role Requirements


  • Experience in managing business development team in prospecting and qualifying bid opportunities, bidding, and winning opportunities

  • Experience researching market trends, targeting relationships, and using proven methods to develop our business strategy

  • Exceptional negotiation skills

  • Experience with bid/no-bid and/or investment decisions

  • Technically savvy

  • Working knowledge of five eyes acquisition program offices. Experience working MoD (UK), and associated program offices

  • Demonstrable experience of competitive analysis and strategic action planning

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Willing to embrace and lead change and able to identify opportunities for continuous development.

Required Skills


  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, business, or related field

  • 10+ years DoD experience performing business development

  • 5+ years leadership/management experience

  • Ability to obtain government security clearance

Desired Skills


  • Strong understanding International Defense Organizations, systems acquisition, users, organizations, processes, and business practices

  • Excellent customer relationship building and sustainment skills

  • Experience with requirements/architecture development, mission planning, program management, procurement/acquisitions are also desired

  • Current, user and acquisition customer relationships
