Through our 14-week, full-time coding bootcamps and company partnerships, we teach students and employees from diverse backgrounds to become software developers while also helping them to build necessary career-readiness skills and career connections through our nationally recognized Pathway Program.

This year Tech Elevator is expanding our impact to Detroit and we are seeking a dynamic and entrepreneurial-minded individual to pioneer our expansion efforts. We're looking for a proud member of the Detroit region's startup/ technology community, someone who will not only be excited to hustle to lay the groundwork for a thriving business, but also be personally motivated to drive broad impact and transform lives through our nationally recognized reskilling program.


As Tech Elevator's market leader in Detroit, you'll be establishing connections throughout the community, in workforce and philanthropy, in the startup community, and among large enterprises; evangelizing the work that we do and the impact that we've made so far; and helping us build our network of hiring partners, from Fortune 500's to startups. All the while, you'll be stewarding our students at the start of their journey from novice to professional software developers.

Market Development



  • Act as the face of Tech Elevator in Detroit, and work to enhance awareness in the community through various activities including networking events, speaking engagement, or media opportunities

  • Establish successful partnerships with hiring companies in order to drive student placements; advocate for students during the interview process

  • Be a brand ambassador in the community - attract, manage, and curate a fellowship of volunteer mentors in the tech and recruiting spaces

  • Keep tabs on the industry landscape, understanding the tactics and strategies employed by comparable businesses to more effectively share the strengths and outcomes of Tech Elevator with the community

  • Collaborate with senior management to set campus goals and make key strategic decisions to drive growth within the market


Student Support



  • Actively manage and participate in campus events and open houses in support of student enrollment

  • Interview and qualify students for their fit and overall readiness for the program

  • Deliver a great individual student experience through impartial support, coaching, encouragement, and One on One career placement meetings

  • Be a dedicated ally for students throughout their journey - committed, dedicated, non-judgemental, and approachable

  • Monitor student learning, activity, and participation in Pathway Program events and exercises

  • Conduct behavioral mock interviews and provide constructive feedback to students for improvement

  • Support students beyond graduation, commit to helping them achieve job placement

  • Maintain quality relationships with Alumni networks through engagement events and volunteer opportunities, working to foster connectivity and awareness of the TE grads and brand in the community.


Qualifications



  • 5+ years of professional work experience, preferably in the IT or education space, with a background in Account Management or Recruiting.


Desired Skills and Experience



  • Excellent interpersonal skills (verbal, written, presentation)

  • Experience with sales and business development

  • A track record of relationship building culminating in partnership formation

  • Experience in the process of career coaching or recruiting and hiring for technical roles

  • Comfortable working constructively with students from a diverse set of backgrounds

  • Experience recruiting and hiring (technical roles preferred)

  • An established professional network of local contacts in business, media, corporations

  • This is an office-based position. We are seeking applicants from Washington, D.C, and from any state except Colorado. We anticipate a typical school office setting including conversation, light foot traffic, computers, etc.
