Essential Duties And Responsibilities



Within a team environment, this position will perform the following responsibilities:


Data Collection & Data Quality (35%): Conduct data collection activities; provide clear and detailed instructions for completing data collection instruments; conduct quality assurance of data and utilize data cleaning techniques; provide technical assistance to others to ensure data quality is high; transcribe audio and video data collected from focus groups or interviews with high level of accuracy and attention to detail; make recommendations about improving data quality; utilize software tools or programming language such as SQL & Python to create forms or data collection instruments, enter data, and extract data.


Data Analytics & Reporting (55%): Produce data reports to fulfill reporting requirements of various projects; conduct statistical analytics including standard, categorical, regression, and other statistical techniques; use data to report trends and areas within programs that need improvement/are not on track with milestones and communicate findings; adhere to standard definitions of data elements for data collections and reporting; utilize data to respond to ad hoc information requests; develop dashboards & reports utilizing software or programming language such as SQL & Python; provide support to Senior Analyst, Research Manager, and Research Director by conducting data analyses and writing sections of reports; conduct literature reviews and summarize findings.


Administrative Support (5%): Prepare business documents with high level of quality; perform administrative functions such as mileage and expense reports and copying.


Committee and Group Participation (5%): Actively participate in internal and external meetings, trainings, and committees to increase knowledge and to spread knowledge.

Job Specifications



Minimum Required




  • Education: BA degree required in Education, Social Sciences, Psychology, Sociology, Human Development, Public Policy, Mathematics, or any other related fields with coursework in statistics and research methods


  • Experience: Three to five years organizational / project experience involving data collection, data management




    • Knowledge in one of the following categories:


      • Category A - Research & Evaluation:


        • Demonstrated knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods and program evaluation required.

        • Demonstrated knowledge of software applications used to create, administer, and analyze surveys (e.g., Qualtrics, Survey Monkey) required.

        • Demonstrated experience in statistical analysis including quantitative analysis skills in R (or similar statistical programs) preferred.


      • Category B - Data Science:


        • Demonstrated experience writing SQL queries to collect data from relational databases (RDBMS) (e.g., MS SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL).

        • Demonstrated experience writing Python code to compile and analyze data from various sources.

        • Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts





  • Professional/Technical Certifications: n/a


  • Technical Requirements:


    • Either: A) program and/or outcome evaluation, survey/protocol development, and statistical analysis utilizing SPSS, R, or similar software; B) data analytics utilizing SQL & Python, and database management.

  • Ability to ethically handle personally identifiable information (PII) required.




  • Travel: Current auto insurance, current California Driver's License, and DMV clearance required. Ability to travel to meetings in Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties required. Minimal travel in CA required.




  • Work Schedule: Full time, typically M-F


  • Work environment: Remote work possibility with potential for working in an office work environment; ambient temperature and noises, indoors

Preferred


All minimum requirements above met, plus:




  • Experience:


    • Knowledge of the Early Education field including subsidized child care and Early Head Start preferred.




  • Knowledge of evaluation tools/measures that are common to the Early Education field preferred.




  • Technical Requirements - In addition to above (list specifics):


    • Knowledge of data visualization tools preferred.



  • Bilingual preferred. Ability to converse, write and/or translate in English and Spanish
