Nurse Supervisor, Home Health / IV Infusions - Accredo - Sign On Bonus Eligible at Cigna in Novi, Michigan

This opening is eligible for a sign on bonus to external applicants.

The Sr. Supervisor, Infusion Nursing is responsible for providing specialized infusion therapies and clinically excellent professional nursing services to patients and caregivers at home or in alternate settings. This position is also responsible for supervising daily nursing activities and ensures quality patient care, as directed by the Nurse Manager. Additionally this position will partner with leadership to continue the development of clinical quality programs. In collaboration with key business partners, the Sr. Supervisor will identify operational opportunities and areas for process development, improvement and administration applicable to clinical product offerings and present recommendations to leadership.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


  • Ensure the delivery of optimal patient care to specialty pharmacy patients referred to Accredo nursing services.


  • Provides direct and indirect skilled nursing care to patients based on a modified primary nursing approach. Such provision of care includes, but is not limited to:

    • Patient assessment, clinical and environmental


    • Patient and caregiver teaching


    • Coordination of related services


    • Development and revision of the plan of care


    • Skilled nursing care


    • Implementation of physician orders


    • Monitoring of patient response


    • Response to emergency patient needs


    • Psycho social support




  • Accountable to ensure patient care is delivered by RNs knowledgeable of the patient's disease state, trained/educated on the medication and have demonstrated competency in us of ancillary supplies/pump/access device. Conduct skills return demonstration and supervisory visits for all RN staff announced and unannounced to assess the above in a clinical setting.


  • Monitor the daily nurse scheduler application to ensure nursing team is compliant with nursing note submission, availability and completion of plans of treatment. Ensure nursing team is compliant with contractual and regulatory requirements, provides care as per Accredo policy and procedures and utilizes company issued equipment/technology to consistently document care. Supervises the completion of all patient related documentation are accurately completed, submitted and/or filed in a timely manner, according to internal and external regulatory requirements and in support of billing process


  • Supervises receipt, evaluation, acceptance and execution for the initial patient intake process to assure that patient verification, assessment, teaching and the ongoing scheduling of nursing service occurs in a timely appropriate manner.


  • Corresponds with management on employee/HR issues, state of the department and any service issues involving key clients or legal risk issues to the company.


  • Analyze reporting data trends within team relative to quality to ensure efficiency and productivity requirements are maximized. Provide feedback to team and nurse manager related to productivity and efficiency.


  • Continual identification of operational opportunities to gain efficiencies, improve processes and workflow and develop best practices.


  • Conducts audits periodically or as required by internal or external groups related to nursing activities, quality, and efficiencies.


  • Meets with internal or external customers as needed and as a subject matter expert for nursing responsibilities as related to patient care. At times may be required to present to small or large groups clinical or operational information.


QUALIFICATIONS


  • Registered Nurse; Valid State Driver's License


  • High School Diploma or GED required, plus 8-11 years of relevant RN experience with a Nursing Diploma; or


  • 5-8 years of relevant RN experience with an ASN degree; or


  • 2-5 years of relevant RN experience with a BSN degree (preferred)


  • 1+ years of experience in critical care, acute care, or home care/home infusion environment


  • 2-3 years supervisory experience is required


  • Strong IV skills


  • Previous home infusion / home healthcare experience strongly preferred


  • Solid understanding of the health insurance industry


  • Ability to navigate and support both public and private insurance/plan requirements


  • Managed care exposure


  • Understanding or ability to implement utilization management principles


  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills


  • Proficient use/navigation of Microsoft and Apple technology



  • Ability to travel within an assigned geographic area


  • Ability to work Monday-Friday, but also have evening and weekend flexibility, as needed


This role is WAH/Flex which allows most work to be performed at home. Employees mustbe fully vaccinated if they choose to come onsite.
