Head of Product (Health & Benefits) at Ascensus in St. Croix, Virgin Islands

Job Description:

The Head of Product will establish the Health & Benefits product vison, strategy and road map that will differentiate our solutions and enable customer, partner and business growth and success. This includes partner management of key platform/application providers. Providing input to the vision and strategy of their platform/application, feature roadmap and client/participant experience.



In collaboration with Health & Benefits Sales, Marketing, Service and Operations as well as other internal and external partners the Head of Product will clearly articulate the business value of current and new products by defining target markets, value propositions, pricing strategies, customer journeys, service models and risk mitigations strategies. This leader will be responsible for the entire product life cycle including conceptualization, specification, launch, adoption, and ongoing product performance. In addition, they will oversee competitive analysis, as well as customer research and engagement to gather feedback and determine new product requirements. Additionally, they will partner with internal p and external partners to determine the product strategy, roadmap, business model and feasibility of the product design concept.



The Head of Product will collaborate with Marketing, Service and Operations leaders and subject matter experts to ensure product/applications features are being maximized to drive efficiency and the best client/participant experience.



This Head of Product will work closely with product leaders in all lines of business to ensure understanding & alignment when appropriate. Including retirement, government savings, and FuturePlan, as well as lead partnership efforts with firms that can expand our product capabilities.



The Head of Product is a senior role in the organization and this individual will serve as a member of the Health & Benefits Executive Leadership Team and will report to the President of Health & Benefits.



***This position can be located onsite at our Irving Texas or Mason OH locations OR be remote from any of the lower 48 states.***



Responsibilities:



Driving the vision and development of Health & Benefits product suite:



  • Develop the vision, product strategy and roadmap for product offerings with input from key stakeholders, partners, and clients.

  • Break down vision and product roadmap into product lines and business goals that can be assigned to product owners, platform partners and development teams.

  • Socialize the product roadmap with partners and clients, effectively market this roadmap to demonstrate the value proposition

  • Create and continuously maintain product roadmaps based on current management goals and priorities, user feedback and competitor analysis.

  • Continually evaluate product innovation opportunities.

  • Develop customer journey maps for each of our products that support our goal to provide market leading and distinct customer service.

  • Engage the Health & Benefits leadership team in the product innovation process, the prioritization of product and platform strategy and the development of annual product plans that will enable the achievement of business goals.

  • Work closely with sales leadership, client relationship managers and marketing for both Health & Benefits and Ascensus to develop strong relationships with our partners to identify and pursue new growth opportunities and reinforce our reputation in the marketplace for providing innovative and value creating advisor and customer solutions.



Key success measures will include profitability, organizational performance metrics as well as retention and satisfaction measures for both associates and clients. To this end the successful candidate will:



  • Lead the development of business cases and business requirements for new functionality and lead the successful implementation of new capabilities.

  • Engage with key partner/application platforms to influence product road map, manage key release schedules and new product launches.

  • Actively participate as a member of the Health & Benefits Executive Leadership Team, which makes strategic decisions for the overall division.

  • Responsible for protecting, securing, and proper handling of all confidential data held by Ascensus to ensure against unauthorized access, improper transmission, and/or unapproved disclosure of information that could result in harm to Ascensus or our clients.

  • Assist with other tasks and projects as assigned


Supervision


Lead and Develop Health & Benefits Product organization:



  • Hire, train, and coach a strong team of product managers and product architects

  • Share the product vision and roadmap with product managers and product architects to ensure alignment


Requirements:



  • Minimum of 15 years' experience; Employee Benefits, Health Care, TPA experience, preferred

  • Deep knowledge of core Health & Benefits product offerings including ACA, COBRA, FSA, HRA, HSA and FMLA

  • Prior Product Management experience preferred

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a drive to work cohesively with internal and external clients.

  • Experience collaborating across partner organizations to develop joint product solutions

  • Ability to drive change within an organization.

  • Ability to leverage technology to effectuate great outcomes

  • Intuitive understanding of product impact on partners and clients; strong external focus.

  • Strong collaboration and management skills; demonstrated success in acquiring, developing, and retaining a diverse talent pool

  • Managerial courage, intelligent risk taking, and being a catalyst for decision making within the larger organization.

  • Bachelor's degree required.
