Summary

The Assistant Mechanic is the career starting point on the path to becoming a skilled Remanufacturing and Field Service Mechanic. The Assistant Mechanic will be under the direction of a more experienced Mechanic or Technician and will support all Remanufacturing and Field Service activities including disassembly, cleaning, remanufacturing and documentation. The Assistant Mechanic will complete any and all duties required in the operation including, but not limited to, basic mechanical and electrical tasks, cleaning, workplace organization, project set up, getting parts and tools for other team members, and any other duties that need completed.

Willingness to work and travel to customer site as required to support Field Service assignments and work as a team to complete inspections, repairs, and overhauls. Required to remain on location for extended periods of time to complete full scope of work up to commissioning and evaluation. Will be directed by Project Lead to complete Field Service activities in a safe and efficient manner.

Expected to progress at a pace to work independently with minimal supervision. Must be willing to take professional direction and demonstrate Remanufacturing and Field Service work capabilities that ensure team effectiveness. Shall maintain a professional and positive attitude, perform quality workmanship, and be responsive to BRECO and customer needs.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities

SAFETY


  • Ensure all work-related tasks are conducted in accordance with published and prescribed safety guidelines.

  • Monitor and ensure use of appropriate PPE per company guidelines.

  • Immediately report all work-related accidents or injuries to Senior Management and appropriate personnel.

  • Complete annual safety training requirements.

  • Review near miss or potential safety hazards and recommend corrective actions.


ROLE

  • Ability to take direction and work to learn new skills.

  • Ability to perform repairs and overhauls of equipment components.

  • Ability to perform repairs and overhauls of diesel engines on marine vessels or at customer sites when necessary.

  • Ability to complete shop duties and related administration.

  • Ability to work independently.


ADMINISTRATION

  • Provide accurate and timely reporting according to company guidelines.

  • Provide accurate expense reports, mileage reports, project reports.

  • Maintain personal tool inventory in accordance with company policy.

  • Maintain company property according to company policies.

  • Document use of Vehicle, Credit Cards, and Equipment as prescribed.

  • Provide input for evaluating Team Member performance.

  • Review reading sheets and specifications for accuracy.


CUSTOMER SATISFACTION

  • Ensure high quality workmanship is being performed.

  • Be responsive to customer needs and professionally represent BRECO.

  • Provide answers to all questions and concerns.


PERFORMANCE

  • Provide recommendations to improve Remanufacturing and Field Service Projects that improve overall Safety, Quality, and Cost performance.

  • Ensure compliance tocompany dress code and safety regulations.

  • Maintain professional attitude and appearance.

  • Complete all other duties as assigned


Qualifications and Educational Requirements

  • Willingness to learn, take direction, and execute tasks.

  • Required High School Diploma or GED

  • Can-Do / Hands-On attitude to complete BRECO Remanufacturing an Field Service projects.

  • Mechanically inclined and driven to learn BRECO projects.

  • Coachable and strong willingness to learn new projects that generate value.

  • Ability to complete projects independently or in team environment in a positive manner.

  • Complete necessary documentation including Quality Assurance, Inventory, Time Tracking, or any additional systems to increase Safety, Quality, and Productivity performance.

  • Willingness to learn about Marine and Locomotive Diesel Engines, Parts, and Processes.

  • Willingness to complete Field Service Travel as required by business needed.

  • This position requires access or potential access to Unclassified Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information, which is Not Releasable to Foreign Nationals (NOFORN) data. Therefore, to meet NOFORN requirement, you will have to provide proof of US Citizenship and attest that you do not have dual citizenship. Acceptable proof of US Citizenship is a US Passport, US Birth Certificate or Naturalization Certificate

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Hazardous environments associated with heavy rotating equipment in gas compression, marine, and nuclear applications.

  • Expected to utilize and wear all PPE for the project.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing duties of the above jobs, the associate is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or other components; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk, hear and smell. The associate frequently is required to sit and climb or balance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must have ability to regularly lift at least 35 pounds.
