The responsibilities of the Generalist are to maintain current knowledge and skills to performance of a wide variety of quantitative and qualitative analyses of body fluids and other materials to provide the physician with information for the diagnosis and treatment of patients. Must maintain a minimum of 12 CE credits per year. Self directed. Able to work independently and assist in the operation of the department to ensure the timely reporting of results in the absence of a technical specialist or manager and resolving issues that may be presented. Provides assistance to the section manager as needed, taking on a leadership role within the section. Operation of laboratory computer system as it relates to daily laboratory operations. Reporting and communicating results to physicians, medical staff and offices including documentation of critical values as per policy. Demonstrates service excellence in all patient care activities. Promotes teamwork and quality patient care in all interactions with co-workers, physician offices and other departments.

This generalist must be ready to work the night shift.
