PURPOSE/SUMMARY

Plans and performs broad range of bench and machine tool operation duties including high precision welding, grinding, milling and other machining to construct new or make major alterations or repairs to tools, jigs, fixtures, punches, molds and dies.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Repairs and constructs major tooling with minimal supervision. Performs duties such as die making, mold making, automated equipment fabrication and trouble shooting. Operation of equipment to support above activities. Uses sketches, blueprints, tools, equipment and instruments. Obtains and uses correct material, supplies or parts. Directs trainees and other personnel on tooling projects. Analyzes tool and equipment problems and recommends design changes. Makes adjustments on tools, dies, presses, machines, fixtures and other equipment to produce parts of the required quality. Inspects parts to blueprint. Inspects for and reports needed repairs to supervisor. Maintains and lubricates dies, machines, and related equipment. Maintains regular attendance in accordance with the current Attendance Policy.

OTHER FUNCTIONS

Places materials, parts, tools, fixtures and equipment in proper locations. Checks to ensure safety devices are in place and in proper operation. Makes sketches of parts to be built. Record information on forms, and computers for record keeping purposes. Keeps equipment and work area clean and orderly. Performs similar duties of a comparable nature. Housekeeping of work area. May handle plant waste, both hazardous and non-hazardous, in a manner which will insure compliance with local, Nebraska Department of Environmental control (NDEC), and EPA regulations. Hazardous waste handling may include any of the following: Drying wastes, containerizing wastes, moving wastes in-plant, and offering wastes for shipment.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D. Two year technical degree and/or apprenticeship.

Experience: At least 2 years related experience.

Should posses mechanical aptitude.

Must be able to work:

1 st shift: 6:30 a.m. - 2:51 p.m.
2 nd shift: 2:30 p.m. - 10:51 p.m.
3 rd shift: 10:30 p.m. - 6:51 a.m.

A Shift: 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m; Sunday through Tuesday and alternating Wednesdays

(6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Shipping and Receiving and CNC Toolroom)
B shift: 7:00 p.m. - 7 a.m.; Sunday through Tuesday and alternating Saturdays
C Shift: 7:00 a.m.- 7:00 p.m.; Thursday through Saturday alternating Wednesdays (6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Shipping and Receiving and CNC Toolroom)
D Shift: 7:00 p.m. - 7 a.m.; Wednesday through Friday and alternating Saturdays

SKILLS/CHARACTERISTICS

-Ability to use measuring instruments such as: calipers, micrometers and indicators.

-Ability to use standard tools such as: open end wrenches and allen wrenches.

-Ability to do arithmetic.

-Ability to read and understand complex diagrams and blueprints.

-Ability to work safely, use good judgment, and work well individually and with others.

-Ability to maintain quality and productivity standards.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

-Heavy work. Ability to move 65 lbs maximum.

-Ability to exert heavy pressure when using tools.

-Ability to operate forklift and other material handling equipment and successfully complete

standardized exam for its operation.

-Ability to remain on feet for an eight hour period.

-Two handed work required to operate equipment.

-Must have the ability to communicate.

-Visual inspection of work performed is required to operate machinery.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

-Climate controlled.

-Exposure to moving parts on machines and moving objects in the plant.

-Uses various machinery to do machining applications.

-Eye protection is required.

-Noise exposure, may be required to wear hearing protection.

-May work on any of three shifts: Daytime, afternoon/evenings, nighttime and required overtime.

-Must adhere to factory regulations and safety rules.
