Overview

Provide leadership and strategic planning for the academic advisement team in Communicative Sciences and Disorders. Plan, manage and direct administrative activities related to student advisement and retention. Interpret applicable student and University policies and procedures, course and plan, implement and administer agreed-upon goals and objectives. Evaluate and revise department policies and procedures in light of program requirements and development. Manage escalated cases to do with student performance, and other issues. Plan and implement orientation activities. Facilitate seminars and events that enhance the academic experience and professional development of graduate students. . Develop internal communication strategies for the advisement team and serve as the primary advising contact with Distance Education Partners, 2U. Interface with appropriate University offices and departments to represent the advising team and ensure CSD’s advisement practices are in line with developments taking place in the School and University; forge new collaborations across the University to benefit CSD graduate students.



Responsibilities

Required Education:
Master's Degree Master’s in Higher Ed, Student Affairs, Psychology, Counseling, Speech Language Pathology or related field.

Required Experience:
5+ years Student advisement, recruitment, admissions, counseling, or related experience. Preference for successful track record of managing sensitive student issues and cases of escalation.

Preferred Experience:
5+ years preference for successful track record of managing sensitive student issues and cases of escalation. Supervisory or management experience, preferably in a higher education environment.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; ability to work both independently as well as part of a team; ability to plan and deliver special events and seminars.Proficiency with various computer applications.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Leadership abilities desirable, Albert SIS, UDW+, social media and other technologies.
