Job Description:
The Cards, Merchant and Retail Services/Personal Lending (CRMS/PL) Control Team provides guidance to CRMS/PL businesses to support their commitment to comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal operational policies and procedures. Through joint accountability with CRMS/PL process/business leaders for control functions, Controls Management enables the development and maintenance of a strong control environment that leads to early identification and sustainable mitigation of operational risk.

This role directly supports Risk and Control Self Assessment (RCSA) work for CRMS/PL as a business aligned Control subject matter expert and is the primary consultant/coordinator for Control related training and initiatives (e.g. Control Data Quality, ENGIN, BPM, etc.) for CCS Control's 27 team members, 50+ business processes, and 1500+ managed Controls. This role will represent CCS Control for high risk business initiatives and identifying/assessing emerging risks.

Responsibilities include:
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of the business control environment through execution of the Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) program.
  • Lead the CCS Control team's support of key risk initiatives including Control Data Quality, ENGIN, and Business Process Management.
  • Support the development of CCS Control team members, with training and consultation, into experts on Wells Fargo's Risk Management Framework, Risk & Control Assessments, and Control Monitoring/Measurement.
  • Represent CCS Control for complex/high risk business initiatives- ensuring initiative risks are identified, documented, and sufficiently addressed in a formal control plan
  • Lead assessments and document CRMS's exposure to emerging risks
  • Lead and influence partnerships with business process owners by consulting and providing expertise and strategic direction in control design to effectively mitigate risks, including design of effective means of measurement.
  • Engage in the development and implementation of new controls, action plans, and root cause analysis.
  • Assess and design appropriate metrics to inform and monitor the health of the operational risk environment.

Please Note: The selected candidate must be located in one of the listed locations, this position will be required to work on site when Wells Fargo returns to standard operating model.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in risk management or 7+ years of financial services industry experience, of which 5+ years must include direct experience in risk management

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate complex material to a diverse audience
  • Ability to manage initiatives involving process improvements
  • Experience mapping business processes
  • Knowledge and understanding of financial controls and risk
  • Consumer lending experience

Other Desired Qualifications
  • Strong experience with Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) program
  • Expert understanding of, and experience applying, a formal Risk Management Framework to consumer lending businesses
  • Consumer collections experience
  • Ability to influence and drive initiatives through team members who report to others
  • Ability to identify and evaluate exposures and potential risks; ability to provide credible challenge to the business and adapt quickly through research and analysis
  • Knowledge and understanding of consumer lending: regulations, compliance, policies, process, and procedures
  • Hands on style; proven ability to execute and achieve targeted results and develop and manage associated goals and plans on time and with high quality
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to interact and lead complex discussions comfortably with senior levels of management
  • A BS/BA degree or higher
