The Mercer University Tift College of Education is a community with the mission to advance the study of education and prepare educators to teach, to learn, to create, to discover, to empower, and to serve, all for the betterment of a diverse and just society. As such, Mercer University's Tift College of Education seeks to recruit and retain a diverse community of scholars. In support of this mission, the Tift College is seeking a Clinical Assistant or Associate Professor of Educational Leadership with experience and credentials in P-12 leadership (school or district level) to teach and provide professional and university service in support of the College's Education Leadership programs. Reporting to the Chair of the Atlanta Teacher Education and Educational Leadership units, the successful candidate will be housed on the University's Cecil B. Day Atlanta Campus. This is a 9-month position with the opportunity for summer employment. The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching blended, in-person, and online courses in the College's graduate level P-12 Educational Leadership programs and advising students enrolled in these graduate programs. The successful candidate will be expected to add to the growth and development of the educational leadership PhD program. It is also expected that the successful candidate will participate in activities of programmatic development and professional development linked to instructional quality and student success as well as service to the professional and University communities. Additionally, it is expected that the successful candidate will contribute to an environment of professionalism and collaboration within the educational leadership programs and the College.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Earned doctorate in P-12 educational leadership from an accredited college or university
  • Five or more years of experience as a P-12 school administrator at the district or independent school setting
  • Expertise in leading effective change at the district level in settings serving students from diverse economic and ethnic backgrounds
  • Superior interpersonal, organizational, and oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to support a culture of collaboration, inclusion, equity, and diversity

Preferred:

  • Growth mindset and excellent networking/recruiting abilities
  • Facility in the use of technology to develop and deliver online synchronous and asynchronous instruction
  • Experience teaching educational leadership courses
  • Experience as a superintendent or deputy superintendent of a P-12 district
  • Understanding of the intersection of research and practice in school leadership

Commensurate with experience
