Materials Specialist 2nd shift 5:30pm-4:15am at Proterra, Inc. in Walnut, California

Job Description:

About the Role – You will:

• Oversees storage and warehousing of materials, actively involved in daily cycle counts


• Perform all inventory adjustments with Oracle and research the root cause of inventory discrepancies;


• Maintain bin and location set-up within Oracle.


• Grows layout and utilization of warehouse space, considers inventory turnover, size, weight and related factors of items stored.


• Support plant cost reduction teams, analyze data and generate reports on inventory. Reviews records for accuracy of information and compliance with established procedures, and to determine adequate stock levels.


• Studies, records and recommends remedial actions for reported non-usable, slow moving, and excess stock.


• Participate and lead continuous improvement projects


• Responsible for Inventory transactions as they pertain to jobs.


• Completes special projects as assigned.


• Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the success of projects, individuals, and the company.


• Responsible for Inventory accuracy


• Track, monitor and report dead or non-moving parts within Oracle; Report list of dead stock to Management for obsoleting purposes.


• Track, monitor, and create reporting for parts in multiple locations for combining of like-parts.


• Perform 5S duties within the Warehouse; Other duties as assigned.

• This position will be part of City of Industry's based Warehouse and Materials team that supports Proterra’s Manufacturing and Engineering operations in City of Industry, CA


• You will report to the Materials Manager and collaborate with other Warehouse and Materials team members located at our headquarters in Burlingame, CA and other manufacturing facility in Los Angeles, CA.

Your Experience Includes:

• High School Diploma or equivalent


• 2+ years’ experience in warehousing or materials or equivalent related experience


• Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications


• Experience with pallet jacks, dollies and related equipment.


• Physical Demands:
  
  
  
  • May work various shifts as needed; may be requested to travel to different locations.
  
  
  • Lifting up to 25 pounds and occasionally 50 pounds.
  
  
  • Able to walk, stand, crouch, bench, kneel, lift, carry and reach as needed in large and tight spaces.
  
  
  • Good eye/hand coordination and ability to identify color variations, depth perceptions and close or distance visual items.
  
  
  • Manual dexterity with occasional repetitive finger motion.

  • Ability to work in manufacturing environment with extreme heat and cold conditions.
  
  
  • Wear protective clothing or respiratory protective equipment.

You might also have:

• Knowledge of the Proterra inventory database is a plus.
