Job Summary:

Champion and advocate of Kimberly-Clark’s KC One Behaviors, Culture of Accountability and Code of Conduct. Under general supervision, provides guidance to assigned departments, responsible for assisting with the effective and consistent administration of the collective bargaining agreement. Provide support in labor relations, recruiting and staffing, training and training documentation, records management, AA/EEO compliance. Respects and keeps information confidential.

Responsibilities:

Labor Relations


  • Responsible for proper handling of grievances; establishing and maintaining a healthy union / management relationship.

  • Ensure that employment decisions/actions which affect employees (i.e., demotions, separations, transfers, and disciplinary action measures) are made in a timely, consistent and lawful manner and in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

  • Counsels department managers and Leaders regarding employee relations issues and recommends actions consistent with CBA and prior practice.

  • Work diligently with all management to promote effective labor relations.

  • Ensure compliance with all federal and state labor and employment laws.

  • Educate and advise management in the administration of progressive discipline.

  • Participate and may take notes in Joint Leadership Team (JLT) and grievance step meetings.

  • May participate in or lead in employee/labor relations related investigations.

HR Business Partner


  • Develop and maintain a good relationship with Corporate Human Resources and other centralized Centers of Excellence (COEs).

  • Assist Team Leaders with reviewing and developing performance improvement plans.

  • Provide advice, assistance and follow-up on facility Norms and Understandings, procedures, and documentation.

  • Coordinate the administration of Union Skill Enhancement / Performance Review process by partnering and coaching Team Leaders. 

  • Support and/or lead action plans to address opportunity areas identified in engagement surveys.

  • Demonstrate effective communication and problem-solving skills.

Recruiting


  • Provide leadership to ensure the organization attracts and retains the best people.

  • Coordinate the recruiting process for new hires; partnering with recruiter, Team Leaders and any hourly and/or union interviewers.

  • Coordinate and partner with the appropriate parties in recruiting and selection of union Special Assignment.

  • Lead or partner on efforts to engage local community and organizations to promote careers in manufacturing and sustain a steady applicant flow to meet the facility’s needs for technical talent.

  • Inform strategy on meeting Affirmative Action Plan and increasing overall diversity at the site.

  • Coordinate and facilitate New Hire Onboarding.

  • Coordinate Summer Student hiring and evaluations.

Training


  • Partner with Training Coordinator to ensure training strategy is implemented.

  • Partner with Training Coordinator to ensure efficient and effective training process.

  • Maintains and ensures accuracy of training record keeping for the purpose of documenting compliance to governmental regulations (OSHA, FDA, etc.)

  • Partner with Maintenance Apprentice Lead by providing support to NCSF Electrical and Mechanical Apprentice program. Work with state and local training affiliates.

HR Admin / HRIS


  • Develop Human Resource solutions by collecting and analyzing information; recommending courses of action.

  • Maintain HRIS records and compile reports from the database.

  • Evaluate and up-date Human Resource standard work processes.

  • Support broad range of Local and Corporate strategic Human Resources initiatives to progress the Human Resource function within the Site.

  • EEO – develops and maintains affirmative action program; file EEO-1 annual report; maintain other records, reports and logs to conform to EEO regulations. Partner with Corporate Human Resources and third party vendors with completion.

  • Partner with Corporate Benefit’s Team and outsources benefits providers in assisting employees with questions and concerns regarding benefits and FMLA.

  • Assist employees in separations; retirements and resignations. Conduct exit interviews and process according to procedure.

  • Provide back-up to Human Resource Coordinator/Specialist.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree. SPHR certification preferred.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive HR leadership experience with strong HR generalist background and deep knowledge of HR systems and processes.

  • Prior experience in manufacturing preferred.

  • Prior Union experience preferred.

  • Demonstrated success leading organizational change, influencing and coaching.

  • Strong business acumen with a demonstrated ability to develop and align HR initiatives to accelerate achievement of strategic business objectives.

  • Strong understanding of industry HR best practices.

  • A track record of success in developing team leaders and their teams.
