Job Description

The School of Systems and Enterprises (SSE) at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ, seeks a Communications Manager who will be responsible for planning, developing and maintaining all of the school's reputation, brand awareness, and undergraduate and graduate marketing initiatives.  The individual will lead the planning, development and implementation of strategic editorial content across multiple platforms and will work closely with the dean of the school to create, execute and project manage marketing and communications materials that support the attainment of key business and academic objectives.  The ideal candidate will be someone who appreciates that technology is continually changing how businesses and their employees develop and organize the systems that will drive the creative solutions, innovation and efficiency to achieve critical successful outcomes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Manage websites, landing pages, blog posts, news and social media (e.g. Twitter, Facebook and Linked-in).

  • Maintain and update editorial content of SSE web pages, monitor web traffic to continually optimize webpage content, review SEO optimization structure including keyword phrases and meta-tag data and with sensitivity to web compliance accessibility standards.

  • Write, review and coordinate design and production of print materials (invitations, reports, brochures, flyers, banners and signage, etc.) for the school, including serving as project manager, scheduler, traffic manager and liaison to internal and external resources, and vendors to ensure editorial, visual, and production consistency, brand standards, quality, timeliness and efficiency.

  • Manage direct marketing activities (press releases, news articles, newsletters, email outreach, quantitative surveys) that support key reputational, B2B and B2C initiatives.


  • Interface with faculty members and the school’s leadership to obtain input on academic programs and strategic direction.

  • Regularly evaluate communication effectiveness, plan and implement new approaches/strategies to improve and to meet overarching SSE enrollment and reputation objectives.

  • Track costs across all marketing/communications projects including cost tracking against approved estimates and flagging potential overages.

  • Manage multiple deadlines and priorities utilizing strong relationship building skills.

  • Be comfortable working with and presenting to academic leadership and other stakeholders at various levels.

  • Partner with other marketing team members to ensure that corresponding university-wide marketing messages are implemented in a consistent and high-impact fashion.

Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of writing and content development for multiple communications vehicles and channels.

  • Experience in a technology-oriented environment is required and experience in higher-ed is preferred.

  • Proven track record managing projects through to completion.

  • Strong verbal communication skills.

  • Preferably, experience writing for both B2B and B2C services.

  • A collaborative and agile work ethic.

  • Writing samples will be required of all finalists for this position.
