Job Description:

Job Summary:

We are looking for anAssembly Leadto join our team, based in Minneapolis, MN. Reporting to theProduction Supervisor, theAssemblyLead will run the day-to-day operations of our production team. Using normal production documentation including pre-production special instructions assembles small parts at the assigned work area; tests parts per provided instructions and may do final verification on the completed product in a manufacturing environment. Assures all the work completed is verified as being completed on the production documentation per our Quality System. The Assembly Lead will train, or arrange for the training of assemblers. In addition, the Lead will schedule the human and equipment resources to complete production to meet the requirements of the production schedule.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Production Coordination


  • Attends daily production meetings in order to keep lines of communication open between various departments.

  • Plans,organize and assigns activities required to complete assembly of parts in their assigned area per production schedule requirements such as quantities and timelines.

  • Responsible for the quality of product being built in their assigned area.

  • Actively involved in cost reduction programs.

  • Informs the Production Supervisor, Manufacturing Technologies, and/or Quality Assurance of any discrepancies in part quality, procedures or equipment and personnel issues.

  • Works with other Assembly Leads to assure balanced workloads.

  • Reports possible operator problems to Supervisor.

Training


  • Works with Production Supervisor and Manufacturing Technologies in determining training needs.

  • Coordinates technical training as required.

  • Trains production staff on the core skills or tasks required for general assembly.

Manufacturing


  • Performs routine, repetitive operations as specified on Production Orders and as explained in Work Instructions.

  • Lifts and transports parts between work areas as needed.

  • Performs visual verification and testing of product according to provided instructions.

  • Requests assistance in any of the above areas when required.

  • Ability to lift up to thirty five (35) pounds and transport material, product, or tooling within assembly areas.

  • Performs continuous process improvement activities as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:


  • Provides work direction to Assemblers and Senior Assemblers within more than one cell or work area.

  • Assures training of and monitors the performance of staff assigned.

  • Reports operator progress during the review process.

Basic Qualifications:


  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Three plus years of assembly experience

  • Two plus years of successful independent experience with set-up, operation and maintenance of multiple machines.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Associate degree in an applicable technical discipline.

  • An understanding of the assembly operations for which this person is responsible.

  • Proven leadership ability.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate efficiently and effectively with external and internal personnel at all levels of the organization.

  • Demonstrated ability to accurately assemble parts using written work instructions, specifications, and assembly prints

  • High comfort level with appropriate Oracle reports and Microsoft Office Suite.
