Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. Previous hospital RN experience is preferred. Possesses a thorough knowledge of nursing principles. Demonstrates ability to provide quality patient care. Possesses ability to assess patient's needs, e.g. clinical, teaching, mental and spiritual. Must recognize safety issues to self and others and be able to assess and implement use of lifts to lift and move patients in a safe manner. Must be able to function well in stressful situations and have good, creative, problem-solving skills. Strong leadership skills with the ability to prioritize and delegate. Demonstrated commitment to quality, timely, and cost-effective patient care. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills required. Detail attentiveness required. Individual must be self-motivated and willing to self-direct. Ability to simultaneously handle multiple assignments and projects with speed and accuracy. Able to work efficiently and effectively under time constraints. Proficient in the use of a personal computer including word processing. Ability to independently take initiative and exercise good judgment in decision-making. Professional maturity that daily sets the tone in carrying out the responsibilities of the position. High degree of honesty, integrity and confidentiality. Demonstrates flexibility and willingness to undertake new responsibilities as assigned. Current NYS RN license. Current BLS certification required or obtained within 3 months. ACLS preferred. IV certified within six months of employment. Certification in specialty within one year.
