National Food Services Manager at Cigna in Bloomfield, Connecticut

Job Description:

The Food Services Manager will oversee all corporate food services functions at multiple locations in the U.S. through direct vendor management and matrix relationships, establishing a standardized food service platform with an integrated health and wellness focus. The role requires knowledge of current industry trends and a working understanding of sourcing and contract negotiations. Accountability is required to create and manage annual budgets, as well as vendor financial monitoring and compliance. Strong analytical skills are required to interpret operational data for insights and strategic planning. In addition to providing leadership for independent and coordinated business projects, the Food Services Manager is responsible for coordinating menus and service for executive level functions and catering events.

This role is focused on supporting the food services demands and unique needs of our employees and executives, requiring the management of vendors, projects and processes. In addition to an extensive food services background, this role requires skills in negotiations, vendor management, relationship building and managing results. A self-directed, hands-on leader with business acumen, able to work with all levels of employees is essential.

The Food Services Manager provides Subject Matter Expertise (SME) and advice to leadership and facilitates coordination between matrix business areas of the organization such as Global Real Estate, IT, Finance and HR, and may lead cross-functional teams or projects. This individual must communicate effectively and prepare dashboards, reports, presentations and analyses.

Overview & Responsibilities:


  • Day-to-day matrix management of multiple cafeterias and vending locations


  • Establish a standardized food service platform with integrated health and wellness standards


  • Oversees a national vending program


  • Project management of the design and implementation of new cafeterias or renovations.


  • Identifying and implementing cost effective solutions.


  • Directs development of menus, food preparation and presentation, including senior level functions, and Board of Director meetings.


  • Manages all financial aspects including budget, subsidies, forecasts and invoice processing.


  • Partners with Employee Benefits to implement and administer eating well/healthy life programs.


  • Ensures the enforcement of safety and sanitation policies and procedures.


  • Communicate, build relationships and establish credibility across all levels of the organization


  • Relentless focus on clients' needs and consistent rising of the bar on service excellence.


  • Manage through ambiguous circumstances to drive positive outcomes


Qualifications:


  • A degree in a food services related subject or extensive experience and training.


  • 10 + years in managing multi-site food services functions


  • Experienced in communicating and influencing at all levels within an organization.


  • Demonstration of a high level of integrity and ethics.


  • Ability to manage in an ambiguous environment and comfortable being accountable for decision making.


  • Proven experience managing executive functions


  • Experienced in Vendor Management; driving results; operational, financial, contractual


  • Extensive background in managing cafeteria designs, builds and renovations


  • Extensive knowledge of current cafeteria equipment options


  • Experience in menu planning with a health and wellness emphasis


  • Financial experience with budget planning and forecasting


  • Experience with implementing special promotions, primarily focused on health and wellness initiatives


  • Ability to travel approximately 50% of the time


This role is worksite dependent. You must be fully vaccinated if you're to come onsite or undergo testing twice a week.
