Job Description

The Plant Controller is responsible for planning, organizing, and managing the Financial department and the various systems within. The Plant Controller will maintain knowledge of all financial and inventory details and provide information, primarily financial in nature, about all facility activities that will assist management, its shareholders, and other users in making educated economic decisions about the company's future. This position reports directly to the Plant Manager.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following.

• Establish and implement accounting policies and procedures that safeguard the company assets.


• Build and monitor the plant budget, forecast, profit plan and capital.


• Provide analysis and support of plant manufacturing and administrative activities to meet profit plan goals, commitments, and timelines


• Analyze plant monthly financial results and prepare commentary for Divisional personnel


• Control and coordinate the physical inventory process


• Supervise, guide, direct, and develop Engineering team. Define competencies required for successful performance and ensures that employees receive appropriate motivation, recognition, and training development opportunities for continuing career growth.


• Serve as an active member of the Plant Leadership team, fulfilling leadership duties and providing input for strategy, direction & continuous improvement by leveraging lean tools, Danfoss Business System and Danfoss leadership model.

Required (basic) qualifications -

• Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance


• 5 years of experience in accounting in a manufacturing setting


• 1 year of management experience.


• Experience with profit planning and physical inventory processes

Preferred qualifications

• Masters in Business Administration or related field


• CPA


• 7 years of experience in finance & accounting,


• 2+ years of management experience.

Job Criteria

• Superior analytical and thinking skills; intellectual rigor and curiosity; problem-solving capability


• Solid working knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Working knowledge of pronouncements of external regulatory bodies, such as Financial Accounting Standards Board, SEC, IRS, etc. Sarbanes-Oxley knowledge.


• Ability to meet strict reporting deadlines while balancing internal objectives.


• Excellent oral and written communications skills


• Ability to develop and motivate team of direct reports


• Ability to work cross-functionally in a collaborative environment
